It was really fun especially when navigating because at that time there was still no gps. One of the challenges was the flight from Japan to the island of Iwo gima. He had to plan the route very well so as not to get lost on the Pacific Ocean..

Lack of GPS had nothing to do with it. The sim was lacking features as the 737-400 does have IRS.

Me too. I grew up on Flight Simulator starting with version 5 and I owe my whole career to it.

Loads of fun it was a lot of manual adjustments even with the auto pilot. I still managed but boy when flight simulator 2000 hit that GPS became a game changer. Direct flights were a cake walk.

@dan1986ist You're only normally supposed to use the autopilot during cruise. You takeoff (and land) manually. Well, that's enough of comments, I guess.
