Welcome back! Thanks for hanging in there everyone. I know this episode is long overdue, but as you can obviously see, it wasn't exactly what I had planned for. So instead of wrapping up the series, in this episode I summarize what's been going on, and remove the engine from the car! Hopefully the series at least continues to be enjoyable for all of you. hey man. I just want to say I'm really impressed with the production quality of this channel. my entire life revolves around cars and youtube. I'm not even remotely interested in germans cars but something about your take on everything keeps me hooked. as someone who's had the same track car throw a rod twice I can totally relate. always see this as an opportunity to learn and grow as an enthusiast. it's hard to explain but when you've totally taken apart a car you create this bond that's intangible. keep up the great work.

I like your attitude - this is an opportunity! Having just installed my BOSS 500 on my 40k mi A3 Quattro and tuning myself, it's not unlikely that I could end up in the same boat at some point. I've already accepted that it's somewhat inevitable, and made a $3K shopping list of IE stuff - I'd appreciate you sharing your component list and selection rationale. Just started watching this series and as I finished episode 3 I auto played into episode 4 and I was shocked because when I started watching this there were only 3 episodes up! I was hoping to see this all come together and see the power it made. But I guess we’ll have a longer series which I’m not complaining! I have a 2011 A5. Stage 2 IE , ecs down pipe and cat, AWE for the rest of the exhaust. Air intake , a few extras. With all that said, I’m on this journey with you man. I plan on doing rods and pistons and k04. Your a true inspiration to me with this car. Wish you lived closer man, I’d be hittin you up all the time.

This KZbin series is god sent! Literally the first channel I actually subscribed to. I also have an 2011 A4 2.0 6 speed and have a lot of the same mods as you so far! Definitely have less engine stuff I went more cosmetic so far (didn’t wanna deal with the stress of a built engine yet). Basically every part I want for my engine you are getting, super excited to see this. Good luck with the build! Excited to see the rest of this series!!!

@@user-rp2gh6hb1h still have it, car is a nightmare. I’ve been having problems with it for almost 2 years straight. Latest thing is electrical issues. First shop couldn’t figure it out, second one thinks they found it. But aside from that I have the 2.0t with an APR K04 + APR stage 3. I have a SouthBend Stage 2 Endurance clutch with ECS lightweight flywheel. Bunch of other things on it too but too much for a comment lol.

Just started watching this series now , man it always pains me to see someone who worked so hard on their car and have something like that happen. Love seeing build series like this! My friends always give me grief for wanting to replace my MKV with an A4 instead of an S4 this series is definitely sealing the deal for me though. I’m pretty firm on this Turbo > Supercharger.

Man, I want to know what kind of power it was making before it broke. I'm planning on running the boss 600 kit on my B8 A4. I already have IE piston and rods because of oil consumption issues. I can't wait for this build. Keep up the good work.

Love the one strap removal setup. I would at least recommend 2. But if you don’t have 2 at least have a thicker one. That thing looked a bit on the sketchy side.

Hey ive commented on your videos before that I have a very similar B8 A4. Different year, but its a black, sport package, manual 2010 is the year. Well let just say I ran into the oppurtunity to buy a RS3 that was murdered out like our cars. I am from the dells and Im hoping we will be having Automotion this year. Anyways , I did get financing to go through on the RS3 and TBH I didn't think it would. I wasn't going to turn down the oppurtunity. The car is a straight up SAVAGE ANIMAL once you go full tip in on the throttle. Its SCARY fast. It was sold with a CTS turbo Race (de catted) downpipe. I was told it was de-tuned but I think it might still be running a flash, its that rediculous of an accelerating car. I plan on doing a really awesome aftermarket intake Eventuri make the intake. Migh also add a large FMIC and will be flashed to stage two E85 file (unitronic). Would you like to film the RS3 during Automotion if they have it or film it whenever and you have full rights to the content. Im a commercial drone pilot , I have the license from FAA to make money using drones. My primary airframe is a DJI Inspire 2 w/X4S camera gimbal. The Madison police department and Dane county sheriffs both use the DJI Inspire 2. So that is a really really big , kick ass stable in high winds weighs 8.8lbs drone. I really think we should get together soon, I think RS3 content on your channel would be great for views and followers. Have an interview of an owner of a RS3 and what the experienc is like. Plus wouldn't you like to drive it if its putting down 500hp to the wheels (hopefully by March or April but for sure by Automotion, its my bday that weekend). Wow quite the upgrade from an a4. It's likely that I'll actually be shooting for Slammedenuff North Carolina that weekend, so it might be the first time I miss automotion in 10 years. But gotta take opportunities as they arise. If you did want to set up a separate shoot in the future, I can give you my rates and we could schedule something for this summer

@@FlinkFilms That it is. I might just still do that. I Don't exactly love the way the throttle is setup on the RS3, its not exactly linear but still love the car. Im actually still debating on getting rid of the B8 because if everything goes as planned the RS3 won't be a daily. Im sure it makes a great one but I signed my life away on the car and would like to keep the miles off it. If you maybe are looking for a parts car or maybe you one of your friends really likes your car. The B8 is posted on madison craiglist. Any fitment suggestions for the RS3? Once warmer weather comes around again I will look you up through your website. I think you have one listed if I remember correctly.

Did this car have stage 2 or 3 recalls done before you got the huge turbo and mods? Chain stretch after 80k is gonna be kinda big, balance shafts might be a bit off too, and the cam tensioner might be almost fully extended. But the pistons/rings/con arms/cam chain tensioner and check for scoring in the bore is something I'd do (or see if it's already been done) before I started throwing a bunch of boost and upgrades. I have 75k on my a5, hood but of stuff done it to. Was going to throw a bigger turbo on it here soon. Should I hold off on that? Until I can upgrade internals first? Don’t really have the cash to swap a turbo and rebuild atm😓.

hey I’ve worked and the 2.0t make sure you do the timing chain tensioner if your car didn’t get the recall done sense you have the engine out it’s a good idea to get that done I live in southern wisconsin and I also have an a4 b8

Are you going to upgrade rods or crank or anything when your in there? Asking because I have almost the same car. Bought it with 79kmiles and pistons and rings were done because it had the oil consumption issue. It now has 112kmiles and just did the waterpump, oil pan and serp belt. Im afraid to even ECU flash the car and put more stress on low end engine components . Are you rebuilt yet or are you stil working on it? I live in the dells BTW , your B8 is nicer.

Yeah all new forged internals with a new replacement crankshaft, which you can see more details on and installation in episode 5 on my channel. But if you’re just looking to do a reflash, rebuilding would be a bit overkill. If it runs ok now, a stage 1 or 2 tune probably wouldn’t be anything to worry about. I had a stage 2 remap from unitronic for about 2 years before this series, and didn’t run into any issues.

There's quite a few to choose from. CTS Turbo, Integrated Engineering, Black Forest Industries, Go Fast Bits, Forge Motorsport, APR, ECS Tuning, just off the top of my head, are all reputable brands.

This had nothing to do with the tune. I’d trust United Motorsports with any vehicle. After tearing into my engine it’s pretty clear it wasn’t the healthiest to begin with. Scorch marks on the piston skirts, one of the rod bearings in pieces, and a balance shaft with plugged oil screens. Probably more on Audi actually since they had the block apart only 20k miles ago to fix the A4 oil consumption issue

I did an stage 1 on B8 with de 1.8 TFSI like 2 months ago and i want to go stage 2 but things like this scare me to death :( btw, how much hp did you made before it blew up ?

I wouldn't worry about going stage 2, you should be fine. And no word on the hp numbers, supposedly should have been around 400hp

You could possibly do it with no problems like this. It’s looking like one of the balance shafts oil screens was clogged, which might have caused the low oil pressure and caused the rod bearing to fail. So could have been a freak accident, but you never know really

I have the same car, before I bought it Audi replaced pistons, rings, etc etc under the goodwill process for these EA888 engines with significant oil consumption (related to faulty piston rings), did your engine also get fixed by Audi under goodwill in it's lifetime as it would have had the same?

@@Fluid36 same thing happened with mine. Audi replaced it for the previous owner. But I have a strong feeling a lot of parts were reused when they did it. So, be careful with yours.

@@atlasjones9306 I’m pretty sure those modifications are specific to the belt-driven fsi engines. This is a chain-driven tfsi, so as far as I know that’s not possible/necessary with this engine. The intake manifold was a thousand.

@@FlinkFilms I’m confused now lol. I know my B7 has a chain for the vacuum pump and HPFP and the belt is just for charging what ever system. I could send you the video that would help with more oil moves and a bigger hole for the piston oil feeds. What was wrong with the bearings? Was the oil hole too small or the material is not as dense?

@@FlinkFilms Audis Man, you gotta love them, I just finished fixing my b8 S4 DSG Transmission and let me tell you that was a nightmare, I am talking full wet clutch rebuilt and mech unit. but I have learned my lesson, no more DSG, I think I might sell it and go back to an a4 with the ZF8 transmission. what year is your b8?
