I use a round 20mm x 10mm neodymium magnet as an edge guide on my old singer 201k so for those who can't find edge guides for your machine then that's an alternative, just magnets on and comes off when needed.

Some of the screws have fine threads while others have coarse threads, if you can’t get going or it is tough to turn, thank you screw to the hardware store and get the correct screw (my 1541S took fine threads)

I've been watching your videos for a while to see which would be a good machine for me. In a few weeks my Juki 1541s will be arriving. Which accessories do you feel are essential for a beginner to have a successful start. Thank you your videos are always very helpful.

A good pair of scissors and some good quality thread, with appropriately sized needles. Then just practice.

Just found your channel, super great information, I have been looking for something like this, I use a singer 111W151, love the machine but a edge guide would be great!
@AlexanderDyer5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if there is a mounting point for this style on the old 111's. But there are other options. I like magnets and use those from time to time.

I see that most places don't advertise this fitting a Juki 1541. Many suggest the GB-6, which doesn't look as nice, and I've heard that sometimes the bearing isn't centered. Do you know if this one will fit a Juki 1541? I would think it does, but I'm in the UK and ordering them is more expensive and takes a month, so I want to make sure. Thanks again for all the content.

Great video thank you. I notice there are various brands/models and the price range varies from $27 to $60. The one you link is about $53. Can you tell me what might drive these price differences. Do some have different adjustment features are some more/less sturdy stay in place etc? Thanks in advance. Anne

I only have this one, I can't speak to any of the others, I just have no experience with them. I have been very happy with this model and if I was to get another I would go this route again. Good Luck in your search and thanks for watching.

Basically machining quality and fit & finish. The Kwok Hing he is using is high quality and made in Hong Kong. They make very high quality import machine parts. Worth the money. I’ve had cheaper guides and they usually have something slightly askew about them. They work, but I think the extra price is worth it to get a top- notch guide.
@stoneblue17956 жыл бұрын
I like it. Question though, is that round part of the guide (that meets the material or leather in this case) an actual bearing or bushing that rotates, or is it just round in nature or shape?(great video in any regard Alex, thanks).

I believe I was one (of the many) that commented on the edge guide. So thanks for this video! I like that smaller foot in this video. Did you cover the different feet you use for this machine? I actually just received this machine today and want to purchase a few extras. I’ll check out your affiliate links. Take card

Just put this guide on my consew 206rb 5 it attached in the factory holes fine. It flips up and down. The guide horizontal adjustment is only 1/8" - 3/8". I was expecting more adjustment range as in your video.
@AlexanderDyer6 жыл бұрын
I suspect that either something is wrong with your guide or perhaps a set screw is limiting your guides travel. Take another look at it and if it is malfunctional then you should return it through amazon and get another. Mine adjusts anywhere from 0 up to 3/4". Thanks for the feedback and let me know how it turns out.
@1goddarddr6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your quick reply. I can see the problem. The two mounting holes on my machine are not allowing the guide to mount to the right far enough to allow more adjustment range. I mounted the guide using only the right hole moving the guide to the right 1", which gives me plenty of adjustment. But, only one screw is holding the guide now. Seems tight and holding but will probably loosen with vibs
@AlexanderDyer6 жыл бұрын
Another thing that helps get me to an inch is that I have such a narrow foot. If I had a wider foot, that would shrink my adjustment area. Too bad about the fitment. I am imagining a 3 hole plate to mount between the guide and your machine lining up two holes to mount to the machine and the third hole to line up with where your guide is now, The center hole would be shared at the machine and the guide. Sometimes I use a magnet net too on other machines so there is that. I appreciate the information.

Alexander, can you confirm if this guide will fit the Consew 206?? I have 2 screws in the back that seem like they would work, however the bar lift at the back hangs right above one of the screw holes which I think may prevent me from putting the foot all the way back down. Wondering if maybe you tried it on that machine before this one :). PS thx for the vid on this!
@AlexanderDyer6 жыл бұрын
Check before you buy but many sellers on Amazon accept returns but I am pretty sure it will fit your 206. I can't actually confirm that but I will be very surprised if it doesn't fit. I think the ad actually lists the 206 as an option, check it out. There is a link in the description. Thanks.

In the link you gave, Kunpeng doesn’t list that guide, KG867A, as fitting the 1508. A different guide of theirs, GB-6, they do list as fitting the 1508. Can you verify which part # you are using? I have a 1508.
@AlexanderDyer6 жыл бұрын
I looked at it and it does list the 1541 which has a very similar case to the 1508. This is a new model number but it mounts the same and will bolt right up to your 1508.
