Just a thought....you could digitize (PDF or MS Word format for printing) your Bible and offer it for sale so those interested would have your notes. You could update as you add to it so everyone could keep current with you. I'd be interested in a copy.

I LOVE the book of Acts!! It’s so exciting!! It was such an adventure. I love how at the beginning Jesus is talking to them and told them to wait for the Holy Spirit, and then He ascends to Heaven and while they’re all staring up in Heaven, the men in the white robes spoke to them. HolySpirit came down and they were talking in various language languages that they didn’t even know! (Somebody thought they were drunk though lol) So many things happened to Paul, like when he was stoned and they thought he was dead, or when he was shipwrecked, or when he got bit by the snake, or when he was imprisoned. And what about Stephen!! Stephen gave the most beautiful sermon, and he suddenly had a face like an angel, yet they still stoned him!! And he looked up and saw Jesus who was welcoming him home. And as he fell down, he fell at the feet of Paul! …who back then was involved with persecution of Christians. I didn’t even get to the stuff with Peter. I can read Acts over and over, and I still feel I missed something and keep wanting more! I can read the gospels over and over too. Can listen on Bible app throughout day.

ie: saltiness…. The salt from the Dead Sea back then was not processed other than to evaporate the water in the sun to make salt. The salt served on the table, on a plate, had sand and dirt in it. When the saltiness (salt) was used up the rest on the plate (sand and dirt) was thrown out the door because the flavor of salt was lost. Salt never loses its flavor and Yes, salt there was crunchy.

The first time I heard about the debated long ending of Mark was from John MacArthur. He did a really good job explaining that the fact that these verses are so debated goes to show how reliable the whole of Scripture is. Every verse has been analyzed by many, many scholars to make sure that it belongs in the Bible.

I am interested in an online group bible study or even a local group (Sun Prairie, WI/Madison, WI) incorporating some of the tips, energy and positivity. Any recommendations? During Lent I had a spiritual director who introduced me to bible reading with visualizing yourself in the scene as different people which was a neat way to make it more personal-obviously one is projecting their own personal perspectives-so not concrete learning-but a new way for me to pray.

Oh wow this was so interesting! I learned some new things from your notes!! Also I'm the same re colour coding, I don't really do it (but have with a couple of extra biblical books to do with specific things such as forgiveness) as I find it pointless to being able to find the cross refs by the diff colours? Tabs are more useful for something like that imo! 😊
@ArleneAdkinsZell8 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing. I don't color code, but I use purple only for blatant/obvious statements on the character of God ( not implied or inferred because the entire Bible would be purple).

That's funny, Im currently rereading Mark and I got that desert takeaway just from the text itself. I mean if you compare it to Israel's desert experience (or at least what the Lord wanted it to be) you notice that the Lord will give provision and rest but also He wants us to get to know Him better in deserts too.

There is a certain study Bible that calls its notes "HELPs". I can't remember which one. Maybe a keyword study Bible or the Hebrew-Greek... I'll look when I get home and post on Slack or Patreon if I find it.
@DarlaDTP8 ай бұрын
It's the Discovery Bible. It's a system of notation to indicate the emphasis, connotations, and mode of action of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words used in scripture. Designed by Gary Hill and Gleason Archer. As someone else posted, a simplified version is available on BibleHub and other apps and websites.

I want to start at the very beginning and just study all the way through. Or maybe that's what's got me in a nut. Should I just study wherever God leads? Help a new Christian out!

A lot of people suggest starting in the Gospels if you haven't ever read the Bible. Reading all the way through from start to finish is my favorite way. There are some really good day by dad Bible studies on KZbin. Idk if you've ever heard of Kanoe Gibson's Heartdive 365 on KZbin. She's very helpful for a first time read. Also if you want to listen to something one book one hour on KZbin is Great! That goes through each book. Also, Voddie Bachum is great. Wish you the best!

What I do is, I read a chapter from my physical Bible then immediately read a commentary. I usually read Blue Letter Bible commentary by David Guzik. I find it so helpful to read a different perspective on what I just read. That then leads me to research certain topics I didn't quite understand or just things I want to know in more detail. But I like that he (David) usually gives background information on certain things that I would have not known otherwise. First and foremost, before you start reading ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand Scripture and to write it in your heart so you can live it out and never forget what you're reading. Sidenote, welcome to the Christian faith. "Walking with Jesus" is the most beautiful thing you will ever do. Many Blessings 🙏
