You're doing a great public service, sir. Most new Mercury motors at Cabelas run for $10k plus. The fact that you're breathing life into these old motors is not only good for the purposes of recycling, but you're giving guys that might not otherwise be able to afford a newer boat and motor, a chance get out on the lake. Well done!

Lmao Top quality content again, inherited a 15hp johnson/evinrude from my grandfather, and I thought the restoration would be simple like that but I had to deal with : Bad Fuel Pump, bad impeller, then it was overheating again, pulled the head, blown head gasket, cylinder head resurfacing, thermostat rusted closed! Then I put it all together and it overheated again…. Now I have pulled the whole powerhead and it needs new rubber grommets, where the copper water tube meets the motor, they were swollen and blocked with salt. Hopefully after this it will be functional again!

Do a video on how you source replacement parts, rebuild kits for carbs etc. Outboards are confusing because there are SO many different kinds and its tough to find parts for older outboards, places that sell rebuild kits or replacement parts, sometimes its ebay but it can be tough to tell if what you are looking at is really what you need. I think that would be a good video idea, how to determine what replacement part or kit you need and the best sources for finding those if there is one or a couple of websites you use to source your parts.

@BoatBusters8 ай бұрын
Always happy to bring my passion to others! Tons of fun to work on, far less legal paperwork than cars, easy to transport… as far as SAE or metric, I’ve seen both. There’s a lot of complicated parent company / ownership of each other in the world of outboard history. Yamaha made mariner and Mercury for some time, those are all metric. There are other models that are SAE. But thank you again for watching!
