Sheila, I just found your channel and watched you fry the bread. Oh my. I'm from south-east Kentucky, Hazard in Perry Co., my Daddy's parents were from Campbell Co. Tenn., right on the Kentucky border. My mother, born 1910, used to make bread like this, both flour and corn. We'd eat it with Soup Beans, fried potatoes, and Coleslaw. I'm the tail-end of eight children. They are all gone now, I'm the last one living. Just listening to you talk took me back to the kitchen table with all of us gathered together talking and laughing, telling Mommy to "hurry up" with the supper. I live on the opposite side of the country now. Oh, how I miss that kitchen table. Thank you so much for giving me a happy day. May God bless you! Marilyn in Arizona

My mom who was born in 1903 made this bread all the time. I haven’t had it in years because I didn’t know how she made it. I loved it. I knew she didn’t have many ingredients in it but this looked so easy and fast I’m going to make it. I’ve watched dozens of videos with fried bread but they were all so involved and had so many ingredients I knew it wasn’t one of them. Although we didn’t call it flitter bread I know it was this because hers looked just like yours when it was cooked. I’m looking forward to having it again. Thank you and God bless. Her grandchildren called her Mammy too.

My dad was at his mother in law's who was such a great cook and my mom asked for some flitters with molasses. When they left my dad was so mad. He said "I can make flitters, why didn't you ask for something else harder to make!!"? He used to tell that and laugh he loved flitters but he could do that. Thanks for the memories. They always used bacon grease

My Daddy would make himself syrup with a little pile of sugar and black coffee to have with his buttermilk biscuit after dinner. He had to have biscuits with dinner every night. He said that when he was little Granny always told him and his siblings to save their biscuits if she had extra sugar it was a special after supper treat when he was little.

The Lord seems to have a preference for unleavened bread, in Leviticus no sacrifice was acceptable to him unless the bread was unleavened. In Exodus the Israelites were told to make unleavened bread to eat with lamb and bitter herbs. I love all flatbreads , so it seems we all may be in good company ❤❤❤
