I can imagine myself taking a break and just sitting on one of those benches with a cuppa and a sandwich just feeling blessed to be in wonderful surroundings. Great vid with fantastic memories of when I was a child. I went to whalley c of e.and lived in front of the first ache of the arches. I walked accross the iron bridge every day for years.I fished both banks in every spot you can get a rod in! My biggest was 4pound+ perch in the same spot just after flood. Also 5+ 3/4 barbel opposite theAbbeyunderthe tree you mentioned..What great memories. So pleased to see how much the whole area inc the factory stretch has been cleaned up and no more pollution. I'm so pleased to se

Anthony Currie! Good to hear from you mate (I'm your brother Michael's old mate from Whalley). It's amazing how clean the river is now compared to when we were young, it's teeming with fish now too. I had the pleasure of fishing with Gary Williams himself today on this stretch, Gary popped down for a chat while I was fishing and I persuaded him (easily done!) to grab his gear and join me. We caught some fantastic grayling and a brownie between us. Thanks again Gaz, great to meet you today...top bloke. See you on the bank again soon mate.

@@PikerBiker Yeah, I know. The Abbey, the railway arch, and road bridge are historically belle - it's just that those prosaic small firms in the background take away some of the Calder's inherent charm!
@PikerBiker2 жыл бұрын
@@rollingnome I agree mate. It would be so much more charming without the factory. A row of trees planted along the bank might improve the scenery on that side of the banking. Those ravens in the Abbey! 😮 What a place!

@@PikerBiker Hey Piker Biker from the accent i`d guess your from the same patch of the world as me, i`m in the Castleford region and was wondering that `if` with only a rod licence i can fish for trout from the 31st March just about anywhere on the River Aire? :)
@PikerBiker3 жыл бұрын
@@seandaniels9168 www.gov.uk/guidance/regional-rod-fishing-byelaws-north-east-region Hi Sean, thanks for the comment mate. I think we have the wrong Calder here. My local is the Lancashire Calder a tributary of the Ribble. At first glance of the bye laws for your area, it looks like you can fish for non migratory wild brown trout from 24th March with a coarse and non migratory trout rod license, I put the link in the message so you can check the information is correct. Thanks for watching the video. Have a great new year.
