My only complaint is the short time limit for each match, and the way they handle a tie breaker. Also feel cages are better suited to prevent going out of bounds and needing stops for stand-ups or repositioning.

I love the format that quintet provides. I wish that more organizations adopted this style here in the states. Imagine the same weight restrictions, however, I go against local teams with a representative from each belt. So I would be the black belt instructor, choose a brown belt from the Academy, a purple belt, and so on. That would be awesome.

Well, our guys compete regularly and are known at there belt rank. I’m not saying your wrong, but our Blue Belt just took IBJJF worlds (at adult). …and most of the meaningful academies in our (Bay) area, from CTA to Gorilla, also have well established schools/teams. Especially with the guys within the IBJJF ranking system. So I don’t know.

There is a cowardice when it comes to disqualifying people in BJJ and I don't get why. I am a fan of Rida but he should have gotten a warning right from the start for the slap and immediately disqualified for the elbow. This is not MMA, and that nonsense makes things personal. Probably angry with both Richie and the referee. The interlocking fingers shenanigans, the almost constant backing away from Richie (he can just stall since 10th Planet was in the lead) and the ref standing them up while he has a dominant position. Rida really needs to learn to control his temper better. Opponents are going to be annoying/shady occasionally, but that doesn’t make okay to storm of pouting like a child afterwards.

They were lining up in the beginning, I thought it was about to be a 5v5 team fight. I’ve seen videos of similar events for MMA, boxing, wrestling, HEMA, etc. Would be fun to see a big brawl for jiu jitsu too.
