I'm inclined to agree; however, there are none other than the Clark Sisters who take the #1 spot for me in terms of consistency, volume, and sustained harmonies. I venture to say that Destiny's Child has tight harmonies, but Beyonce sang lead the majority of the time so Kelly and Michelle were seemingly complementary often as opposed to fully present voices, whereas FLO alternate frequently. Nonetheless, with some more years under their belt, they will be untouchable. This song and Not My Job really showcases their prowess and how attuned they are to each other. ❤

Just because she’s not doing it qs much, you’re forgetting that half of the time she is the base of harmonies, and also the girls tend to do a lot of harmonised runs like they do in this video, which takes of skill to do. I feel like people sometimes act as if they’re hard of hearing but again I don’t expect people to always notice these things because they hear all the usual fabulous riffs and runs, which are nice and all but there’s more to an artist than just runs and riffs and what makes them “good”. Yes it may sound like Renee is “playing it vocally safe” as I’m seeing a lot of people in the comments, but you have to remember the parts that she’s giving can’t always contain all these crazy runs, it won’t fit with the song at times, it’ll be too much or most of the time because she is the base of most harmonies she can’t always do it. Her time will come when we see her do more things vocally but as for now wait for the rest of the album to come out and we can revisit this conversation

It’s not easy to hit and sustain the soprano and even high mezzos.
