Miguel appeals to me specifically because in this franchise full of characters who have extremely specific and extraordinarily well trained martial arts techniques and styles, he is the one guy who literally has no martial art style whatsoever that just swings his arms around wildly like a madman. Paul 1 through 3 was a threat. Tied with kazuya in a match outside of Tekken 1, lost to kuzuya only after Fighting him for hours in Tekken 1, went undefeated in three, beat ogre, and left beacuse he thought he won. Even in 6 kazuya States he was a pain in the ass to fight.

Paul actually beat Ogre in Tekken 3, he just didn't finish the "set" (if that makes sense). My headcanon is that he got DQ'd for leaving early (considering Ogre was yet to transform, no idea why is it tied to the tournament), otherwise Jin's victory doesn't make sense at all.

Asuka is sadly just “Wasted Potential: The Character” I remember when she was being hyped up as a distant relative of Jin’s and we all got hype over what her connection would be and what her encounters with Jin would be like. And would she give us clues about Jun? And then… nothing! She doesn’t even seem to be aware of it, despite the same last name. Hell, even Lili knows more about Jun than she does. Like… really? I’d argue she was done more dirty than Jin was throughout his arc.

Also, they forgot Kinjin (IIRC), which is Tetsujin but made of gold. I believe he's originally from Revolution.

Despite many having a problem with Jin's personality change, it does make a lot of sense lore-wise: He (apparently) lost his mother at 15 and was later betrayed by his grandfather, someone who trained him and someone he thought he could trust. Finding out about his heritage (which he vehemently despised undergirding more depression) and the danger his devil blood potentially posed to the world spurred him into the course of actions he took.

I won't tolerate the Wang Jinrei disrespect. You repsect the WANG! Many of the Tekken cast themselves know from personal experience or by adopting many of his techniques. Even One Expression Feng acknowledged the man and that dude don't listen to nobody. Orge (the based GOD of fighting) went around emulating different fighters and took a ton of Wang's moves including the legendary Waning Moon throw and the Blazing Kick Gotta call deep fried cap on calling someone with that much clout a jobber. Some of the fan favorite characters all have ties to him (Jinpachi, Lee, Xiaoyu, Feng, Michelle, etc.).

Raven is a very underrated and unique character indeed, but to do very good with him you need to play very risky, because many of his moves end in his backturn where he's very vulnerable, you need to be very versatile and unpredictable with him, I mainly use him because he resemble Naruto characters in his fighting style and because of his unorthodox approach, for me he's B+ and maximum A in the right hands of use in the Tier List, because he's the type of High Risk-High Reward character. ☯️ 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've always been a Tekken "fan", but I've never really known the lore of the series particularly well outside of the Mishima v G-Corporation plot. There are SO many characters that, and this will sound like heresy (and is also not true), seem so same-y to me. I love the designs of characters like King, Asuka, Jin, Lili, Xiaoyu, Paul, and a few others, but SO many others feel like filler (which is a problem I have with KoF characters). I think I should just spend a week on Wikipedia and arcade modes with a bunch of characters across all the games before 8 hits. Side note, Matt's content is always so great when it comes to fighting games. He loves his characters and his series, but he's more playful about it, and I don't get that sort of "hardcore" or "edge lord dudebro" vibe from anything he does.

That's what I love about Tekken it, in a way, forced me to care about more than just the characters I play because they have a rivalry going on with others or a connection in some way with others.

I feel bad for the tekken 7 characters. Claudio is so damn fun to play but doesn't really do anything in the story. Shaheen looks cool but feel kinda incomplete moveset wise and does less than nothing in thr story. Gigas and Katarina have a story that go nowhere and is probably wont ever be back. Leroy is so cool and his story in the anime was nice but he came out so overpowered and easy to use that he ruined that game for 3 months and even the winner of EVO Japan who won with him asked for him to be nerfed so its hard for some of us to care for him. Fahkuram was cool but has no story and came out overpowered. Akuma and Geese were awesome editions but everyone got tired of seeing them in top 8 because they were insanely strong (Geese's stage is still fucking incredible). Lidia had a reason to fight but no story. Negan was a cool idea for a guest but he'll only be remembered for his stage. Lucky Chole had hints of being a cool character being an asshole to Eddy but no story besides that (she is weirdly fun to play). And Josie....exists. Her entire story is she beats the shit outta Kuma. Its a shame since many of them are unique and fun to play. Tetsu and Shadow made Claudio look amazing. AK's amazing Shaheen made him not look boring. Jeodding and Kaizer did some incredible stuff with Chole. There was so much potential for something for them storywise but they got virtually nothing.

Feng's sick because his character is so straightforward and refreshingly honest. He's not a tragic figure or an evil mastermind, he doesn't have some grand external goal of world domination or external power of any kind. He wants to be as personally powerful as possible and has no qualms about doing bad things to gain strength. It helps that he has a unique fighting style (unlike fauk who shares muay thai with bruce and such).

I think the costume Jin had that I love the most was that sick white flame on his Karate gi pants in Tekken 5. Looked razor sharp in my opinion. But his badass leather jacket in Tekken 8 is nothing to scoff at either. I'd personally put Bruce higher but just because he's one of my mains. I wonder how much in depth the writers behind Tekken's lore are in understanding the origins of a character like Azazel - or if they just Googled a cool-sounding demon name. Nonetheless, the existence of a 'Devil Gene', originating from Azazel, which causes humans to gain wicked supernatural abilities is suspiciously similar to the 'Biblical' account. I wonder if Ogre is supposed to be a different fallen angel? He obviously has some sort of connection to the Devil Gene (though never fully explored in the series before being dropped entirely). Or maybe he's one of the earliest 'Nephilim' - making him in a way an ancestor to Jin and Kaz, lol. I mean, both Heihachi and Kazuya were trying to get the pendant to awaken Ogre way back in T1 and T2 - before Ogre even appeared as a character officially.
