If +1 had called the flop $150, would you still choose to flat call or put in a small raise to build the side pot?
@MrErizid
@MrErizid 22 күн бұрын
With position, I am 100% flatting. Any middle-ace might fold even to a small raise. Out of position, definitely still check calling. I want the +1 to have the chance to turn his set and I get paid the max. If someone else is betting for you and you've flopped a hand like quads, I don't see huge value in raising on the flop. Re-evaluate if it gets checked to you on the turn.

@MrErizid Not to mention that with 2 active players, it becomes even more likely that one of them has a flush draw. So there's less concern that a diamond will kill the action. Definitely should be flatting regardless of whether +1 folds or calls.

When I saw the flop and the situation I thought to myself: "Gosh, this is going to be hard to play right." And then SB just does all the work for the hero.

How would quads on A44 with a flush draw in position be hard to play?
@johnf1772
@johnf1772 21 күн бұрын
It's so much easier to have this in position and is pretty hard to mess it up. When acting first, that's where you really have the dilemma in between building the pot or letting them catch up, or hoping someone else starts betting. I once had something like 73 in the BB where all seven players limped to me and I checked...flop is 777. Now what? I opted to bet and hope for calling stations, rather than hope for aggression out of an entire table of limpers. Inevitably, with so many people, catching up for some will be scary for others, so I figure it's a wash.

Pretty funny. 3 nights ago UTG flopped quad 8s against me with Q9h. He slowplayed the flop 8h8dJh and checked around. Turn Ac he led with a small bet which of course I called. River 10h🎉🎉🎉. He led 3/4 pot, I jammed he snap called and we hit the 28k BBJP.

This same scenario happened to me where I was in the BB with AA in a 1/2 game. I raised pre-Flop to $20 and only got called by the SB. With the A44 flop I thought I was golden. With all the chips going in on the river card, I was shown the bad news of the SB showing me 44. I didn't get upset and was actually happy for the SB, since she also won a $500 High Hand promo.

1-2 200 max buy in NL . K,9 Spades . preflop villian bets 21, hero calls . flop comes 2psades 2 diamonds ace hearts. villian bets $20 hero calls. Turn 6 spades hero checks villian checks, river ace spades hero checks villian bets 60 hero tank folds. vilian shows pocket threes in shock hero folded flush. what are your thoughts about this hand? Stupid to lay down the flush in this scenario? i imagine more than 50% of the time the villian has ace something in this scenario considering the larger perflop sizing, in the moment i was not considering what a pocket pair would do in the scenario, I was thinking he was polarized to a ace holding or nothing.

I've learned to never try to apply logic to someone else who is involved in a side pot. The logic of side pots completes escapes a lot of players. In dry side pots I see people bluff, or bluff by accident, or bluff with the best hand.

I am of the opinion that Slow playing generally is not efficient at low stakes Just raise to a reasonable amount and keep firing. If you size properly than the ones who won't call weren't going to in the first place.

Is this a troll? Or are you seriously asking what to do if the river is an ace? You thank the poker gods, and snap call if he shoves. If he checks you jam and hope he’s got Ax and not a busted flush draw. Small blind has AA here like 0.01% of the time.

A lot of players don't know how to extract max value when they flop a monster. There's a lot of useful info in the video if you focus on the decision-making process and not just "OMG Hero haz quadz, pokr izz so EEEEEZZZZ"

I mean, from a strictly viewing perspective and balancing what might happen, it's important to occasionally get one where the best possible thing happens at every point, right? Otherwise, we just know it's going to be a huge decision on the river every time.

@@noex100flopping quads can be hard to extract value I agree. Last time I flopped quads was QQ2 rainbow. Suffice to say I did not get any action. This one does seem pretty straightforward though when SB donks flop and river.

Doesn’t necessarily make sense. When playing 3 bet or fold your range should be linear so a real strong 3 bet range that can defend against 4 bets. 3 bet or fold doesn’t mean ur 3 betting wide you’re playing a tighter range all together
@TomRauhe
@TomRauhe 21 күн бұрын
@Pacotisdale1268 no you're playing way too few hands and are way too predictable post flop. Your range should be polar.
@Pacotisdale1268
@Pacotisdale1268 21 күн бұрын
@ from the button yes in theory you should be polar but there are absolutely times you should be linear when you shouldn’t have a calling range like early to middle position and from the SB. In those spots you’re not really gonna be able to punish them by over 4 betting

Oh, please. Is 190 or 240 a better bet on the turn? Let's debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. In a hand where someone flopped quads no less. Chin up, gents, but we need not continue the charade that these nuances are 1/10th as important as sheer luck.
