Thank you so much. Very helpful. I can finally help my son finish his fishing merit badge. He needed a good visual. We keep catching turtles.

So I’m a single mom, and have basically been trying to learn to fish in order to teach my daughter how to fish since she has no one else who’s gonna do it, so far your videos have been super helpful and we’ve officially caught like 5 fish today (super tiny in our local pond, we threw them all back in)....but what I wanna know is how to get the hook outta the little ones you wanna throw back when they swallow it so deep down that you can’t even tell where the hook is, I’m a huge softie so the thought of leaving a hook in a fish just tears me up inside....but when I used a larger hook they just kept eating the worm off the hook. I do t wanna hurt/kill the fishies, I’m not there yet....Please advise, lol

Hi Dava, I'm glad my videos have helped. The problem with small sunfish is they tend to swallow the hooks deep, and there are only a few things you can do to release them. There are a couple hook removers you can get online or at Walmart, the first looks like a red stick (it comes in the crappie kit at Walmart), the second in medical pliers (these are extremely thin and might be able to reach into a small sunfish mouth). if those two types of hook removers don't work, the best thing to do is cut the line as close the hook as possible in the mouth of the fish. Hooks will rust away after a while, which give the fish a fighting chance. Hope this helps.
