All these years I thought a split shot weight being that close to a hook would scare a crappie . Thanks for showing me different. 💯👍

Fishing is just like family values. The way you do it when you were young is close to how you do it when you're an adult. I've fished all my life and I see so many techniques that I've NEVER heard of until I got on youtube.
@gregwz2n7354 жыл бұрын
I'm not worried about scaring crappie...they aren't terribly skittish usually. I like about 6" seperation between hook and split shot. It keeps the hangups down a bit and lets the minnow swim free. I find that with the active minnows swimming it triggers bites quicker. Just my personal preference.
@stardust16214 жыл бұрын
@@gregwz2n735 I do about 6 to 8" myself when it comes to separating the hook and the weight. Also again wonderful video and I'm looking forward to the next one friend 👍💯🎣

Move the split shot farther away from the hook when your fishing dirtier water to allow the minnow to swim in a circular pattern, which in turn draws crappie in from farther distances.....

I really enjoyed the video, what's the best Minnow size to catch large Crappies? What's your pound test?
@FloppingCrappie2 жыл бұрын
I typically use 6 or 8lb test with a slip bobber rig. Depending on what part of the country your are in you can get different sized crappie minnows. When I travel to most Southern states a medium sized (2-2.5") minnow works best. Upnorth you're left with whatever you can scoop out of the livewell at the baitshop.

well maybe it's because i am in canada ehhhh but waited for those multi function fixed/slip floats to hit walmart and stores but even bass pro shop does not have em, ill have to look more carefully again at walmart but anyways i decided to make one myself using a regular thill spring loaded fixed bobber and now i can use it as a snap on to my line slip bobber too hahahahha , ill be making a vid soon about this hack and many other techniques i came up with , but no those rubber stops are not for me specially since my light rod seems to have not only the second but the third guide all the same size diameter as the tip guide (weird?) ,yeah the yarn gives a bit of trouble after a while too but not nearly as bad and still the least resistant to getting stuck on the guides as anything else ive seen but your slack line tip is spot on in helping with that at least for those who only have one small guide to go through

With the line thru the "fixed" position notch the Rod N Bobbs bobber move up and down my 4lb fluoro pretty easy (its got a little grip). Is that going to be okay? Most bobbers really clamp down.
@FloppingCrappie3 жыл бұрын
i would wrap the line around the stem in order to help lock it in the notch
@marlonb.8243Ай бұрын
If you like to use string for a bobber stop and you don't want the stop to move, tie a constrictor knot. It won't loosen and you might have to cut if off if you want to move it. If a split shot is too much of a hassle when casting, just buy a slip bobber that has a built-in weight.

What about braid line do they slip on braids
@FloppingCrappie2 жыл бұрын
I personally don't use braid for slip bobber rigs, but I have seen other anglers use it. The key is to make sure the bobber has a large enough grommet for the line to easily slide through. With mono or fluorocarbon you dont have to worry as much with the line sticking.
@sadethlee93092 жыл бұрын
What’s the size hook do you recommend? I’ve heard size 8 is good. Is it true? You said size one is good, is it too big though? Thank you.
@FloppingCrappie2 жыл бұрын
The most common Aberdeen hook sizes for crappie are size 1, 2, and 4.
@dsgbqc4 жыл бұрын
Ok but how do you throw it and prevent the hook from hanging up on the top of the bobber? Frustration in using a slip float lol
@FloppingCrappie4 жыл бұрын
Well, since I move the spit weight to the top of the hook, I can reel down almost to the hook before casting. The bobber will slide to the weight. The more line you have out before casting, the greater chance it gets tangled.

rubber stoppers make no design sense to me ,they will end up going through you rod rings while retrieving and casting too,i only use plastic beads so only the knot stop goes through the rings and not the bead ,many fishing tackles are poorly designed, i wish i can do my own and have a company make the stuff, like for example the floats that light at night, notice how they are not made to have much boyancee and they only setup with a hole and rubber grommet for the line? why not make them spring loaded fixed or slip as well as slip through the centre just like yours is nicely made that way with all 3 options? all that is missing for this to become the ultimate float is a light in it , you think i can find this float at my local wallmart even though im in canada?
