when she came to Lisbon, right after the concert I ran as fast as I could outside the entrance to the hotel where she was staying because only god knows how much I wanted to say hello to her... it turned out that when she got off the bus and looked at her... If I looked at the glass on the front door of the hotel, she just said "OmG I look like a mess..." and then I understood how tired and exhausted she must have been. I took a step back and was glad to have seen her up close. taking a step back must have been the best option

This album is much lighter than Ceremonials, but it's still just as angelic and powerful. She always knows how to deliver her message and make you feel the music instead of just hearing it. Florence is a true gem and doubt that there will ever be another one like her. I'm so glad that I started listening to her because she saved my life and I will be forever grateful.
@Nanenna9 жыл бұрын
One of the things I love best about Florence is how subtle her references to Christianity is. Most Christian musicians feel the need to put "God" and "Jesus" into every song about 50 million times per song, Florence knows she can give praise and evoke religious imagery without having to beat us over the head with it. And I can't express enough how grateful I am for this!
@youraveragefan459 жыл бұрын
Nanenna Yes!!! She's truly so talented. Her songs actually have meaning and require some thought to interpret sometimes and I absolutely love that about her as an artist.
@Queen-Daenerys-Targaryen9 жыл бұрын
While she is interested in spirituality, she is non-religious. While her songs carry symbolism, I wouldn't call them "Christian" songs. They're just songs written cleverly, using various stories as metaphors.
@Queen-Daenerys-Targaryen9 жыл бұрын
@Sebastiàn Unknown "Welch said: I love seances, witchcraft, heaven and hell, voodoo, gospel, possession, demons, exorcism and all that stuff. . . . I'm not a religious person. Sex, violence, love, death, all the topics that I'm constantly wrestling with, it's all connected back to religion."
@Queen-Daenerys-Targaryen9 жыл бұрын
You can think what you like, but those are her words. Unless she comes out and says something else, you can't just say "oh, that was 5 years ago, I think she's changed."
@Queen-Daenerys-Targaryen9 жыл бұрын
Wearing a necklace of Jesus or Mary isn't saying "my religion is this." For many people, they like what Mary represents even if they don't believe in that religion. Also, it goes with her style. Have you considered that maybe she simply liked the way it looked? We have to go by what she'd said, not by a necklace she's worn.

I can tell from the four tracks released so far that this is going to be the bands best album. It's taking a VERY good new direction, but man oh man does it still have that goosebumb inducing F+TM sound

When I heard the first few verses, I was very apprehensive about the whole song. I was worried it was gonna be another one of those soft songs, like "St. Jude" that would take me a long time to warm up to. But then, when the base started, I was ecstatic; it was distinctly *Florence* while still being fresh and having a newer feel. It was like she put her (already astonishing) musical talents through a cycle in the dryer- it came out fresh and wrinkle free, but without washing her trademark feeling away. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but it's truly the best way to describe how she's changed her music up, without changing the overall intensity it always seems to hold.

As I'm listening I feel so proud of this artist, a woman we've seen fighting in Lungs & Ceremonials in a so intelligent way I couldn't love her music more than I just do. With this new album the fighting, I suppose against her real self and the world she's surrounded, has become something more confident and aggressive and determined. I don't even know her personally but, by listening her songs & thoughts, I grow attached in the purest artistic way so I can definitely say that I'm happy she's finally gained the ability to communicate without metaphors and dreams but by just the simplest of words and her soul. The reason I'm not calling Florence a "singer" is because she's truly an artist. This is not just music, this is a conversation between someone who's eager to express and someone who's willing to listen. Let's support Florence + The Machine the best way we can: by breaking the replay button.

I love all of the albums that Florence has made, and I think you cannot compare the albums from one another because they are all so different. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful is it's own creation and each song is great with it's individualism. What Kind of Man gave an abrasive side, St. Jude gave a soft and vulnerable side, and Delilah and Ship to Wreck are more fast passed but a mix of the first two. I have songs that I like more than others, but I love them all for the story they tell behind Florence's life.

ctc0503 Totally my feelings. It's not that I don't like happy songs, but I'm just used to something different when it comes to Florence, something that will take me to another world & I just loved this darkness in Ceremonials & the uniqueness that every song used to bring. I mean, she is still the most original singer I know, but for a example Ship to Wreck or What Kind Of Man doesn't have this "thing" in them, they are both great for their own way, but it's just isn't the same. But I think this song actually had something from the "old" Florence, like a mix of Lungs & Ceremonials.

Everyone is complaining of how they miss the old albums' whimsical side and the "old" Florence, but I LOVE this new side of her! This album is darker and suits her well. It seems more relatable than how some of the other albums' seemed more magical and light. It's like she is finally letting out al her anger and sadness.... And we'll I love it! Super pumped to add this album to my collection and can't wait to see her in November!!!!!!!!!

Probably one of the most epic songs they ever did. When you listen to it, you wanna fight.

Does anyone ever get the feeling they've heard this song before, with this and so many other Florence songs?
