Then is thankful you aren't a "Holy Roller", saying "God is busy, we got this". Im homeless, in north Florida, & have seen how God takes care of me, just like he initially acknowledged. Hopefully he can see God past the well-meaning people delivering a tainted message. Serving God doesn't guarantee you a house, how ludicrous, as Jesus, himself spent time homeless. He even said "birds have nests & foxes have dens but the Son of God has no where to lay his head. Its not a time where He abandons us, as if he's done with us or disappointed or embarrassed. Its a time where He PROVES how much He cares & you notice the ways he supernaturally takes care of you. Its beautiful & although id like to be housed, its comforting knowing He's gonna be with me, here or in a house!

I asked the person I was visiting with what was going on. He said the folks I was seeing were from the homeless camp and doing what is called "receipt scanning". Basically if all high dollar items were paid for by cash then they hit the jackpot. Next day go to Lowe's get a flat cart and go load up all the items on the receipt and go str8 to customer service and get back several hundred dollars just off 1 receipt! Lowe's was informed about it.

Homeless in Florida have it made. We are senior citizens and homeless in Las Vegas NV and currently the temperature is 115. We have the same anti homeless laws in place that we fear being arrested, etc. for sleeping. We are forced to sleep with eyes open due to Rape, Murder, theft, etc. what is needed is our government making laws to protect us poor, elderly, displaced, etc. And begin to bring the community back together instead of separating the poor from the rich. There's no middle anymore, everyone is one pay check away from homelessness

Difference between the Vet an the others is that the Vet is most likely getting an Ok check monthly. And has the things he wants to manage decently. And don’t have to be as dirty. By scrounging collecting all kinda shit or trying to scrap any metals because his check may not be a ton. But is enough he don’t need to do all that extra stuff. A may be why he seems decently happy an healthy compared to others and is in decently sound mind. An not just strung out scrapping for scraps just to get to another day.

Who don’t more homeless people seek help from local shelters and instead live in woods and solicit money from people on the streets? This guy seems like he’s not a solicitor, he’s scrapping for cash. And seems content with the woods rather than getting help that IS available for veterans especially. I’d guess because he parties with drugs with other homeless people out there. My guess is the drugs are the reason for my first question when it comes to many homeless people not seeking out the help that is available at local places… because they would be kicked out if they used drugs or something. Sad. It’s all sad. I wish our local shelters and places that help give homeless food and clothes would also provide some sort of mental health support to help them with drug use and social skills to help them change their path :(
