Welcome. My husband died suddenly in our home of a heart attack in December 2019. Then covid. I WAS at a lost. I am 79 yrs old and trying to cope with it all. I have sewed quilted embroideried cross stitch but but just couldn't feel happy. Then my daughter got me going on KZbin. Soon I stumbled into flosstube. Happy and busy with my cross stitch. My favorite is Blackbird and I love making strawberries. I loved your first KZbin. You sis great. I love Shanda too.

I’m now binging these older floss tubes after finding you a while back. Your now in Colorado and I’m still loving your videos. We have a lot in common when it comes to how we started quilting and cross stitching. Hugs from Arkansas. ❤

I’ve been on the fence since 2020 about doing a floss tube/ quilt tube. I’ve been a quilter since 2001 but cross stitched in my early 20’s but stopped when I bacame a mom in 1993. Son is now 30, I’m holding my first grand baby (girl) born n October 2023, closed my longarm business of 8 years due to an unexpected medical procedure…..Which is why I started back to cross stitching. I needed something other than hand embroidery to do. And like you I went down a huge rabbit hole. Now I’m torn between my quilting, hand embroidery, wool appliqué and now cross stitching….. I’ve been collecting patterns and fabrics but yet to have a fully finished project🤭🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Our stories are so alike. I haven't cross stitched in nearly 30 years. My kids are grown and out of the house. I recently started scrapbooking again and then I found flosstube. I've purchased a few items and I'm learning, like you, this is all new again.

I just found you and I'm SO excited to have found a stitcher that I can relate to! Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and talent. It had been at least 5 years since I picked up my cross-stitch (being an avid cross stitcher from the 80s and into the early 2090s). I have discovered my love for it again this summer when I started making Christmas stockings for my new grandbabies. I actually found your 3rd video first but halfway through it, I decided to find your first video and watch them in order! Thank you Bonnie. You're reinforcement that stitching is a calming way to self heal is spot on!❤️

Welcome Bonnie to this wonderful world of floss tube!! My favorites to watch are Priscilla and Chelsea, The Real Housewives of Cross Stitch, Fat Quarter Shop with Kimberly, 911 stitcher, and I liked Distracted Stitcher but I don’t think she’s filming anymore. My favorite “gadget” is my basket that I keep my current project and floss in. It belonged to my mother, also gone from this world and who taught me to sew and encouraged ALL my needlework, saying I was just like HER mother 💗 it all feeds my soul 🙏🏻 Looking forward to more episodes!!

Bonnie, Welcome! Your first video is wonderful and inspiring. I'm fairly new to FlossTube, too. I recently moved from KY to Northwest Ohio and knew no one. After unpacking all my cross-stitch things from years back and some more recently, I discovered FlossTube and have been able to connect with some wonderful stitchers. I, too, am a quilter and wool appliqué stitcher. I was inspired by so many FlossTubers that I started my own channel - The Just BeeCuzz Buzz - in July. I would love it if you stopped by for a visit. Blessings for the day. Happy Stitching.

Thank you Bonnie for sharing. I too started again doing cross stitching. I first started in 89 when I was pregnant with my first child. I learned by purchasing a baby announcement. I had no idea that I had to start in the middle of the chart. Needless to say the finished product was off center. I started again because of the COVID stay at home. And by watching you I get inspired by you. Thank you one again. Keep doing what your doing. You are doing amazing. God Bless.

Welcome Bonnie! Just so you know there is no cure for Cross Stitch Fever! Be sure to check out these ladies: Rags to Stitches, Stitching by the Lake, Half Stitch Cross Stitch, Jan Hicks Creates, and Sunshine Stitchers (2 ladies and 1 guy all friends here in FL). Also Becca of My Stitchy Home is a stitcher and quilter. Kitten Stitcher is great and has an on-line shop. You've already mentioned 2 of my favorites - Mischievous Stitches and Handworkmaniac. I've stitched on and off since the '80s and fell into the FlossTube hurricane 2 years ago. I still have some unopened kits from back then but I have more stash now due to all of the enablers that happily share their addiction with us. Beware, you will get infected with their joy, love and inspiration.

It's funny how I did love and enjoy stitching in the 80s and 90s, but now, I see it with new eyes (Oh, actually OLDER eyes!) but I'm finding the richness of so very many patterns and designers and the threads and linens......just enchanting!!

Welcome. You just popped up. Enjoying your quilting and cross stitching. As you, I fell down the rabbit hole in May. Flosstube appeared, and having FOMO, I had to check it out. I said the same thing. Nope, nope ... nice but I haven’t cross stitched since late 80’s and I have wool appliqué, quilting, knitting and don’t need another hobby. That didn’t last long. Have you found Pumpkin Hollow Quilts Flosstube? She’s a quilter and stitcher also. I look forward to watching you. I have a nice scroll rod but watching and listening to all the ladies who stitch in hand, I decided to give that a try and love it. It’s light weight and less cumbersome.

Just came across your floss tube channel and I enjoyed listening to your story. You are quite the talent with the needle. I love all types of needlework and designed counted thread embroidery on linen for a number of years for the retail market retiring in 2014. I stitch every day. If you search for Hardwicke Manor embroidery hoops there are a number of places that carry this line and Hardwicke is a quality hoop. There are others, but some are harder to find these days. You also asked about a light box and this will probably be your laugh of the day, but it is cheap and it works. I used a porcelain light socket which has an electrical cord on it and they can be found at Home Depot. I have a 4 foot glass top table and I can put that light under it and work away. Other times, I have put the light into a plastic storage box and have used a piece of glass that fits across the top of the storage box, taping the edges with painters tape to avoid any cuts. Years ago, I researched light boxes and I thought they were kind of pricey, so worked on the next best solution. I have used my homemade light box for years and it still works the best for my needs. However, if you want a good light box, check it out on Shabby Fabrics web site. They also have a light box video on You Tube. So enjoyed listening and seeing your WIP's and all. Welcome to the world of floss tube. We are a lovely, friendly bunch and there is no unkindness here. Cheers from Boise, Idaho, Norma

So I found your most recent floss tube. I had to go back to the first to find out about you. I am laughing because of how many times I say I don’t need another hobby. But cross stitch wasn’t a new one, I just put it away for 30 years until this July. My going back has to do with a lost quilt I made for my oldest child that was cross stitched Peter Rabbit characters with the alphabet. I stored it at moms and we have not been able to find it for 5 years. So I decided to go back and redo it in linen this time. Since July I have acquired many many many other patterns and linen too! Love floss tube because I never turn on a tv

Welcome! I use a light box that is as thin as a tablet. It was the one that Hello by Liz Matthews recommended. It was on Amazon and doesn’t have a brand on it, just a G. It was on her Amazon list. I bought one for my mother also and she likes it. Your quilt is strikingly beautiful! I’m trying a little bit of quilt as you go but am a 35+ year veteran crossstitcher! I’m in the Scattered Seed club as well. I used to always use Q snap frames. Since retiring, I need lighter hoops so I bought antique wooden hoops that are Duchess hoops. They show up on Ebay. I love all threads! My favorite needles are Pat Carson needles and the ball-tipped needles for high-count fabrics. My favorite gadget is LoRan needle threader.

Hi Bonnie! Welcome to the floss tube community and wonderful enabling friends of fellow cross stitchers. I am catching up on all your floss tubes so am a bit late with the welcome. Amazon has light up tracing boxes for a reasonable price, depending on the size that you would like. I have found it very helpful for especially stitching on dark/black fabric. My favorite needle currently is the 28 ball-tip Easy Guide needle. I first became acquainted with them through the former owner of the company and have not went back to using any other needle since. The best price I have found for them is a Canadian company called Charting Creations and they average $2 per needle instead of $4 like here in the States. They work very well on 18 ct Aida, 32 count evenweave and linen. I do not stitch on anything smaller than that due to my eyesight but feel they would be fine for the smaller count linens as well. I find your floss tubes to be very uplifting and enjoy the sharing of your life stories, your quilting, and all the wonderful memories you have associated with the quilts. Thank you for your time as well.

I love my Hardwick Manor wooden hoops. I get mine from Sassy Jacks Stitchery in North Carolina. I am back crossstitching since about 1 1/2 years ago after 20 + years away. I got hooked due to flosstube and all the new floss, Linen and updated finishing. My favorite items are petite needles especially with higher count fabrics, my Hardwick Manor sit on frame and my dovo embroidery scissors. Welcome to the dark side🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I am so glad I found your Flosstube videos today! Like you, I learned a deep and enduring love for needlework from a very early age. My mom has had a penpal in Minnesota since she was in 7th grade. That penpal sent me a little embroidery kit when I was little, and that was my first of many, many projects. I have always shared the joy of my hobby with my family, too. That sounds so familiar too. My mom and grandmother sewed and have done needlework (my grandmother has passed now). My sister and I learned and enjoyed counted cross stitch together. I have too many craft hobbies and my husband would say too many supplies, but I love it all. It was such a pleasure to hear your crafting history. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and it took me back through the years of my life. I got out of cross stitching and took up scrapbooking when I had my daughter, but thankfully Flosstube has brought me back to my beloved counted cross stitch. It was such a pleasure to meet you! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!

Wow! Look at you floss tubing like a pro! Amazing first post and you are a natural! Cheering you on from Ontario Canada. Like you embroidery was my first love, but I quilt, cross stitch, knit, and crochet. Love my pigma pens! My favourite cross stitch “tool” is my copier. I enlarge my chart and cross off finished stitches with a highlighter. My eyes are old too! One thing I learned is that when working on black or navy cloth, I lay a white towel or pillowcase on my lap. The holes are much more visible. Looking forward to more of your enthusiasm and joy!

Welcome to the new cross stitch community. I also put my cross stitch down 20 -30 years ago. I love to embroider, quilt, applique (both cotton and wool) and I paint. I have only been back into cross stitch about one year. It is very addictive and now I have a large stash of patterns, floss and linen along with everything else. Too many fun projects and there never seems to be enough time to everything. My one suggestion for you is to watch some flosstube about stitching in hand before you invest in too many hoops. I find that my stitches look much better in hand. It did take awhile to catch on, but it is worth it. Enjoy.

Wow, sounds like we have alotin common with needle and thread! Oh, yeah. I'm gathering quite a few patterns, but the fabrics are harder to find with the low stock many places have on hand. I've got enough to keep me out of trouble for awhile! I'll take your advise and check out the stitching in hand. I've seen several tutorials, but I was not sure how the stitches would look. I'll give it a go!

I just watched your first floss tube video and enjoyed your story. I too have fallen back into the same rabbit hole of cross stitch after being away from it for many, many years. I have been immersed in quilting for over 30 years now along with embroidery, wool applique and many crafts. My favorite designer is blackbird designs and Erica Michaels. I love the strawberries. I have not done a sampler as of yet, but hope to venture into it in the near future. My favorite embroidery floss is Cosmos and any of the hand dyes. I am still learning what all the acronyms mean and have not tried any of the higher count linens. I enjoy the evenweaves at this point. I also live in Southern California and for many years my husband and I had a log cabin home up in Big Bear Lake, California. He passed away from a major heart attack a few years ago and it has been a huge adjustment after 52 years together. I loved your first video and plan on following you as long as you plan on making them. I too have subscribed to several floss tube channels and that is what I enjoy watching during the day while quilting and in the evenings when I cross stitch. So welcome to this wonderful new community.

I loved your sharing all your thoughts. Where was your cabin in Big Bear? The one my grandparents owned was over by the dam by Chinese Island and Papoose Bay. Wonderful old historic cabins with so much character. I can still smell the mint we would step on as we walked down to the natural spring by the lake to get drinking water when I was a girl. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. My parents were married just over 50years. I'm glad you are enjoying stitching and quilting. I just searched Erica Michaels and will have fun looking at her designs. Thank you for joining with me in these video chats!

I love your first video. I have used cross stitch and floss tube for my mental therapy for the past 4 years. I’ve experienced some personal losses in my life and I would not have made it without my stitching. I would love to learn to quilt after seeing everyone’s quilts in their floss tube videos. I hope to retire in December and maybe take a beginners quilt class. I’m looking forward to your quilting you tube. The two things that I use for cross stitch that I love are Sullivan’s size 28 Easy Guide Ball-Tip Needles. I can’t use a regular needle now. The other accessory is my Morgan embroidery hoops. I have several sizes and find that you have really tight tension with them. Thanks for jumping into the floss tube world.

Welcome to flosstube, i have learned a lot with flosstube but still a newbie too. Lol but my fav things are qsnap (it doesn't mark the fabric and has a good hold on it too, the qsnap brand is a better quality then the other brands). And needle minders are fantastic! I just downloaded a free light box on my tablet, so not much help there.

Hey, didn't know there was a lightbox app. That's pretty cool. I've got a bigger ipad, so that might work! I just ordered a 8 x 8 Qsnap over the weekend to give it a try along with a few Hartwicke hoops. I figured it would be best to go with the name brand that the other Flosstubers use. Glad I did!

My very first stitch was in 1970 and it's was strawberries. I still love my berries but have branched out to samplers now. The log cabin was the very first quilt I made in 2002 when I finally took a class after years of sewing. Thanks for another fun video.

Just found your Floss Tube, and enjoyed it very much. My life can be same as yours, as I always have a needle and thread in hand. I actually did the same wool appliqué you showed. I have taken classes from Lisa of Primitive Gatherings, and many wool quilts, and crafts of all kinds. I use a frame for my big cross stitch pieces, and use wood for my small take along work. I think Hardwick Manor makes an excellent product. I wrap the inner hoop with twill tape, and makes it all nice and tight. Love watching Floss Tubes with such lovely ladies who put on a pleasant presentation. Thank you and keep stitching. Look forward to watching more.

I placed an order for a few Hardwicke Manor hoops from Needle IN a Haystack..hope they are in stock. And I was so excited to find an old Duchess hoop on etsy and I snagged it right away. No idea what size it was, but whatever it is, I'll love it. Yeah, Primitive Gatherings is amazing!! So easy to spend hours there. I love Lisa's work.

I am a returning cross stitcher as well. I spent the 80's stitching the Lavender and Lace angels which I loved. Then quilting took over my world and I put everything else aside. Last summer I lost my younger brother unexpectedly to a brain aneurysm and totally lost my quilting mojo; I think partly because he had been so involved helping my father build me a quilting studio in my basement. I was watching my niece, who I had taught to cross stitch a few years ago, stitching one day and she looked so peaceful and content. I pulled out an old quilting book by Barb Adams & Alma Allen, Celebration of American Life, because I remembered it had a cross stitch pattern in it. That started it all again for me! Welcome back to cross stitch!

OH, I'm so sorry you lost your brother. It's so hard. Yes, stitching brings relaxation and peace. Helps the mind to quiet and think about lovely things. I took a break from my sewing room for 2 years after my Mom died. Just too painful, I gardened and made stuff with my oils during that time. But, I eventually decided it was time to get back into quilting. I had to reorganize my fabrics and that helped me enjoy being in my room again. Something new to help- my mind.

I look forward to your coming flosstubes, Bonnie. I got into them 2 1/2 years ago and love them and the stitchy community. I liked your little heart embroidery piece. I love doing what I call “little stitch embroidery and use a light box my husband made for me about 30 years ago. The other thing I have started using and prefer to the microns is a Pilot “Frixxion” pen in pink, brown, or grey. It disappears with heat, either a hair dryer or an iron. You barely have to touch the fabric with the iron and sometimes not at all. So if the line isn’t perfect, it doesn’t matter.

My husband used a 9x11x2 1/2” acrylic box picture frame. They used to be very popular in 80s when he made it and I think Michael’s still has them. The white cardboard part of the box fits inside to hold the picture. He put a piece of thin diffuser acrylic under the front surface and a longish light with wire coming out of box to plug in. I’ve been using it for 35 years

Hi!! Welcome! I also discovered floss tube recently - late December last year. Isn’t it the coolest?!?! Who knew when we were stitching in the eighties and nineties that there would be such a thing! I, too, have fallen down the “buy all the charts I’ve never seen before” hole! I have been stitching since 1980 and never really quit, but I haven’t had an LNS so I didn’t see new patterns, except for Brenda Gervais and Blackbird Designs because I have always followed Brenda and I, too, am a quilter and had BBD patterns and books. Now there is just too much eye candy!! It’s just so very fun, tho! Great intro and first video! I will be watching in order til I catch up! Have to watch those quilt videos, too. I also live in Idaho like Shanda, but I live in the Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls and she lives East and north of me a few hours. Great place to live and stitch!! 🌼🐝🍁🦔🍂🦉🍁🐿🍂🍂🍂

Oh, YOu live up where it's beautiful!! I have to go up to the cabin to find beauty or in my backyard. It's hard to drive back into CA after visiting Colorado. Such wide open beautiful places! Cathy, thank you so much for watching and I'm thrilled you are enjoying my videos!! God bless you!!

Welcome. I am a watcher of floss tube. Great first video👍. I am also a quilter that loves traditional and Jo Morton, needleturn hand applique, Civil War fabrics and history. I’ve been stitching for 30 plus years as well as quilting for around 25. I can relate to the stash issues for quilting. I’ll be checking out your quilt channel too. Great retro stitched pieces. Love the shorter videos. I look forward to seeing your content and getting to know you. Haven’t taken the plung yet on making videos.

Nothing like hanging out with other stitchers and getting inspired by what they're working on. I love that we can spend time with each other in this format! Stitching and listening!

Wow! What a fabulous video! I’m so happy I have discovered you! We both like the same types of needlework, quilts, embroidery etc. I look forward to seeing you every week. I will tell you I began Instagram two years ago when my youngest moved out and what a world that has opened up! IG and Flosstube have definitely given me a new focus and it is so much fun. I have developed many friendships I am so thankful for. There is nothing like a group of ladies that love the same hobby as you do with the same passion. Welcome to the world of cross stitch, I think you will love it as much a I do!!

So nice to meet you 🥰 I really enjoyed watching you and will be looking forward to all of your videos. I am also a cross stitcher re-entering the hobby after taking probably almost 20 years off. I find it so therapeutic and enjoyable. I also have enjoyed seeing all of the different styles of stitched pieces from the various floss tubers out there. Thank you for such a positive and interesting video 😊
