Hi, Karen! I loved your quilts as a backdrop for your videos, but your new location also has a lot to recommend it. The background is lovely, and I was able to admire your red vignette atop your DMC chest. Because it’s easier for you to work from the new location, I’m giving it my vote. If you do so, perhaps you can show us a picture of one of your quilts from time to time! As you know, I adore Flowers for Beatrice on the Foxy linen, but I’m now equally enamored of Feast of Friendship for it. Am really looking forward to hearing what you decide. Thank you for showing the Battle of Franklin Trust Samplers, we need to maintain our history now more than ever. Also they are gorgeous. Years ago I was visiting Carnton Plantation and the gardner was culling the Iris plants. I now have purple Iris in my garden from Carnton. A great memory. And I love the fabric color comparisons, it helps a lot.

I know all about losing interest in projects!! I did go back and finish two quilts so far this year from 2002 and 2015 and repurposed a sampler I started in the 90s !!!

Thanks, Marion! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your nice comment. The battle of Franklin isn’t a well-known battle, but it was strategically important. If you ever are in Nashville, it is only 20 or 25 minutes south. The curtain mansion was used as a hospital after the battle and is also open for tours. It’s just a few miles away. Lots of Civil War history in our area, we have tried to visit many of the battlefields in tour many of the homes. I have toured the Carter house several times, but did not realize the sampler I saw had been reproduced. I was pleased to see a chart and I’m sure enjoying working on it.

Karen, I just found you as a cross stitcher. I have made several quilts from Celtic pieced Illusions and really enjoyed them. So many quilters seem to be jumping on the cross stitch wagon. I found cross stitching again when the Silver Needle came to the Houston quilt show. I love seeing all your linens and projects. I don't have an opinion on your set, as I now have to go back and binge all of your previous episodes. I am interested in feast . So glad I found you.

Hi Joan! Aren’t the Celtic Pieces Illusions quilts fun?!? So many design options. I also know many quilters who are returning to cross stitch. . .so many fabric options and floss options. I was so surprised to hear you say my name and bring up my question about your dmc box and organization. Your answer has helped me. I am inclined to organize by color but by looking at the dmc chart and pulling the floss by number is working. I have an IOU list I keep in the top of the box. I love your red leather boxes. I was fortunate enough to find a vintage red leather travel jewelry case on Etsy. Your Hannah Campbell is beautiful. I was torn between it and Maria Ewin but I chose Maria. It is my first Hands Across the Sea.

Hi Keryn, Thanks so much for your note, I really appreciate it. The fox and rabbit foxy linen was a club color. I don’t think it’s available outside of the club yet but not 100% sure when it will be. Squirrel Nutkin, that is a linen color someone mentioned in a comment for episode 12 or 13. I’m not sure when or where they got it. I would Google it and see if it is available anywhere. Their linen sells out pretty quickly but you might be able to get on a wait list or be notified when it is back in stock. Here is a link to the shops that carry Fox And Rabbit linen. Karen how are you using the wooden dreamer cabinet behind you..? I have seen on facebook a stamping drawer unit the guy is calling it?

I have my collection of DMC in this cabinet. I purchased it last year from DMC. It includes the entire range of DMC floss and the cabinet was included. (I was just returning to stitching and don’t have much DMC, so it was a good option for me. ) If you go to the DMC website, it may be still available. I’m not sure how long it was or will be available. If you already have quite a range of DMC, I did see some similar wooden cabinets on Amazon. Not exactly the same and smaller, but might be a good option.

Have you read the book, The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks? It's based on the true story of Carrie McGavock whose home was turned into a field hospital during the Battle of Franklin.

You always have so many examples for us to Feast our eyes on. I’ve done cross stitch for years but never a sampler. Do you use any kind of an aid to help you see those small cross stitches?

Hi Judy, so glad you enjoyed the video. To stitch on the higher count Linda and I have found higher power readers extremely helpful. I found them on Amazon. I have a pair of 4.0 which I use consistently when stitching on 40 count or above. Will all depend on your vision needs, many people like 3.5, I found 4.0 works well for me and have another friend who likes to use 5.0. The readers are fairly inexpensive for several pairs, so I bought several strengths to keep on hand. When I was doing one over one on 46 count, I use my higher power readers and also use the magnifier on my halo go light. However, I don’t need to use the magnifier on the light for two over rwo, just the readers. 🙂

Hi. I enjoy your flosstubes very much, but since you asked about the vignette and the room positioning I have one comment about your background: the dog wheezing or birds chirping is so distracting to me. I’m trying to focus on what you’re saying . I guess it’s the window open as opposed to a dog wheezing. Anyway, ignore if it doesn’t bother anyone else. I’m more sensitive to noise than others.
