@patpatson92014 жыл бұрын
This what should happen all the time actually! African runners have been over racing to make money, if they could run 2 big races in year like americans tend to do, you would see amazing stuff! I know runners who ran 12-15 races a year! Do you really think they can perform a their best? Yes there is doping in some runners like in any other sport, but still don't think that all that you are seeing is impossible!
@keepyupy23344 жыл бұрын
Here’s why: everybody was peaking for 2020 because of the olympics. But now, instead of going to the olympics and doing championship style racing in order to win a medal, they get to race for time with way less pressure, but still in peak fitness.

Not surprising because the lack of a proper season essentially turns these “races” into time trials, which tend to lead to better times than outright racing.

@penguinmilkshake62574 жыл бұрын
@@patpatson9201 I respect your opinion and you do make good points. Rhonex is also one of the best athletes. The thing is that a 10k on the roads and a half marathon are completely different events that require completely different training to run. I have run both and the 10k is a mixture of good endurance matched with great speed. A half marathon around a 20k with an extra mile so it requires much much more strength achieve a great time. You also need a much better mental aspect. From my experience in the half, around the 18k most people who have never ran the distance would want to quit because they have never handled the sheer length of the distance. To run this fast for your first half marathon is incredibly rare and this performance makes him one of the favorites to win the 10000m gold in the 2021 olympics
@patpatson92014 жыл бұрын
@@penguinmilkshake6257 Don't forget Rhonex ran 26:24 on the roads and he is a good cross country runner too! Mental toughness ain't an issue, the mileage these guys are doing week in week out without breaking up for peaking too many times a year makes it doable! Marathon that is something else for him, but a good 10k guy can easily prepare a specific half marathon within 8weeks no problem (considering you are already in shape, not coming back from injury or long break). Kandie surprised many but not Kiplimo neither Kipruto 😉

@@patpatson9201 You have some great points. I’m still surprised at his performance but it makes somewhat sense because of his training and mental toughness. Same thing with Kiplimo. This is amazing. As for comments suspecting doping, everyone takes what they can get away with but the name of the game is that you are said to be doping only if you are officially charged of doping, otherwise it’s just smart nutrition and science. (Salazar held a similar view and wasn’t wrong, just that his alluding to it too openly made USADA rather uncomfortable, so they threw technicalities back at him to get him.) By design, with today’s testing protocols, “doping” under the radar can only give you a tiny advantage, so there’s no magic pill at work, just raw talent and equal opportunity to juice for anyone. If there were a new drug undetectable by today’s testing regimen, why wouldn’t whoever invented it try to make more money by making it more widely available and why would relatively poor East African countries consistently get their hands on such wonder drugs or procedures?
