World record? I don’t think that America counts as The World? To give it context, Elizabeth Leachman’s fabulous record was set at 17:25 whereas the Kenyan, Pamela Kosgei, has set the Kenyan 5000m indoor record at 16:53 , when she was just 15 yrs old. She actually set that record in the US, in Alabama! Her PB for 5000m, set two years ago at 18 yrs old was a phenomenal 16:20, that’s 55s faster than the talented Miss Leachman.
@borgerborgersen3722 ай бұрын
@@JackSmith-t2y Elizabeth Leachman ran at 15:25 at 16 years old. The world record for a 16 year old is 15:18 by Eloise Poppett. So she's not far from the very top. Elizabeth's time would have been the senior world record in 1981. Today the world record is 14:00 by Gudaf Tsegay. Elizabeth had to lap many runners and was not in a field. If she could compete with seniors she could get even faster. We don't know if she will become a senior champion or not, but she definitely has the potential. So she will be one to follow closely. She is definitely one of the biggest long distance talents in a long time.

@@MrTruckerfI’m not watching it again, but I think the first mile was 4.58 and the second mile was 5.02, for a 10.00 2 miles. There was 1800 to go after this.

@@Jimmy911ism When I was in high school over 50 years ago my PR in the mile was 4:49, and I beat a lot of kids. Of course, this was in the small school division; our HS had 120 students 9-12 grade.

Yes. This champion absolutely does not need to have to beat boys to keep winning like some girls who spent most of their lives training.

Heck yagh!!! Wishing her all the best of luck in her future career in the sport. Truly remarkable athlete and amazingly motivational and inspiring. Reminds me of the days long ago when I was able to run this event in the Army. No one ever beat me! Well I think I lost once or twice but over 12 years and in to my 40’s I could still perform as well.

Oh my gosh! She is awesome! So thankful there were no guys pretending to be female in this race! We need to get her on the US Olympic team!
