He could have easily stayed at lightweight and below for the rest of his career and still retired a legend of the sport. But he dared to go up in weight and give away huge natural size advantages. Him coming up to fighter guys like floyd at welter was the equivalent to floyd have come up to super middle and fighting ward.

I think Jimmy Wilde won something like 92 fights before he ever had a loss. Julio Caeser Chavez had 89, and Willie Pep was 62-0. It's still impressive for Mayweather to go 49-0 like Marciano did, but it's insane to me that a former Flyweight could win titles in eight divisions (skipping two along the way), and five lineal titles- and often NOT on points: he was beating the shit out of and brutally KO-ing Hall of Fame fighters like Morales, Barrera, De La Hoya, Cotto. He flattened Hatton, knocked down the granite-chinned Mosley, and completely battered and broke the orbital bone of Margarito: a guy who weighed 17 pounds more than him on fight night. And all as a former FLYWEIGHT! Floyd was smarter at the fight GAME: choose your fights carefully, hit and don't get hit, make your money, and get out. He was an outstanding defensive points boxer. But I don't equate him as the same level of legend that Pacquiao is and will always be. To be great you have to dare to be great and challenge yourself, and I don't think Floyd ever took any big chances and really challenged himself. Everything was extremely and thoughtfully calculated. Still, two all-time legends for different reasons!

Flomos vs Pactards two groups of Low IQ imbeciles that honestly Boxing can do without. I personally like Pacquiao more as a fighter yet I prefer Mayweather more as a boxer. In their Era I have Mayweather #1 & Pacquiao #2. If we could create a freak of nature Boxer who had all of May & Pac best attributes you'll have a fighter who would be undoubtedly the best boxer ever imaginable. He would go 100 wins - 0 loses 90 ko and Undisputed in 9 divisions. Money and Pacman are the best you can possibly want from either a fighter or pure boxer stand point. Just appreciate that you was around to witness greatness from these amazing athletes.

While I respect this video's attempt to respect both fighters, the idea of equating Mayweather's 49-0 (McGregor is a non-boxer) to Pacquiao's becoming the only 8-division champion, 5-division lineal champion, and the only fighter to still be a champ in 4 consecutive decades... is American exceptionalism nonsense.

If someone thinks Floyd was Greater than Manny-it’s because of “American Exceptionalism”. If someone thinks Manny was Greater than Floyd-it’s because of “Racism”. It’s physically impossible for anyone to have any logical thought, at any time, on any topic-under any circumstances, ever. Everyone is a tribal, racist, misogynistic, bigoted, xenophobic, nationalistic demon, that spends every waking moment thinking about how they can become _more_ tribal, racist, misogynistic, bigoted, xenophobic, and nationalistic-than they already are.

@@hannibalbeats24 Floyd vs Pacquiao was one of the most hyped fights in history. Floyd had to wait until he saw Pacquiao get knocked clean out to negotiate a fight with him. Floyd was awesome when he was a young champion but as he got older he picked fights at the right time, picking up a title at 140 against a weak champion in Gatti, had a close fight with an inactive Del La Hoya to pick up a title at 154, had he beaten the likes of Hatton and Marquez at 140 he would probably get more credit for those wins, Marquez had to gain 17 pounds to fight Floyd, Canelo was inexperienced at high level when he fought Floyd at a catch weight, and even arguably lost to Lara after that fight, and then deciding to fight Berto who was not even top 5 at that time instead of Brook, Porter, Bradley, Garcia or Thurman who were all deserving of a fight with Floyd.

But because Floyd waited and waited to make this fight until after Pacquiao was older and softened up by Marquez, the fight didn't actually mean as much.

The reason why I watch every Rummy's Corner is he always makes incisive analysis with master class analysis. On the 50-0 and the only 8 division champions, I too don't want to take away the accomplishments of both boxers. You have to agree with most comments here that we have been given a tour of the two of the greatest champions in the history of boxing! Put simply, I respect both champions. I have to also agree with Rummy that it will be many years (or never) that we will see another 8 division champion!

I only know. Mayweather had a marathon in that fight! And he won. Awesome! I interviewed many people after that fight and 95% of the people said that too.

Manny and Floyd will both go down as two of the best ever. There will always be debates on who was better. Just like it is right now with Messi and Ronaldo in football. Manny and Floyd have completely different styles. Obviously Manny's was more fan friendly but Mayweather was just so intelligent in the ring. You have to appreciate both for what they accomplished. Two very special fighters. The end of an era but I am glad I got to see both of them at their peak. Just wish the fight happened earlier. Politics 🤷♂️

Yeah but theres more logic and reason backing floyd as being the greater of the 2 especially since he holds such a blowout win over Pacquiao.. 118 110 116 112 116 112 Those are blowout type of scores....I dont see how 2 of the judges gave Pacquiao round 10..that was a pure gift.

@@Ali-vl1sc lol I've seen it.. I actually got into a debate with artorias boxing in 1 of his comment sections and owned him with ease....I told him that I, with my own 2 eyes can see him counting punches for Pacquiao that sont land and not counting punches for floyd that do land...his response was that i could see them but refused to admit it and told me to make a video of my own." I explained to him that he just proved my point in that his video is not factual and is opinionated as anyone can make a video...plus I told him that me making a video or not doesnt change what I clearly see with my own 2 eyes.

🤔 You can always pick your opponent and get a 50-0 BUT it is more difficult to dethrone a champ or win a championship in *8 different divisions* ... go figure. 😉

A lot of people _also_ say: ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’-which is one of the Greatest, most awe-inspiring works of Art, in the history of Civilization… is “boring”, and “not exciting”. A lot of those people would say that ‘Morbius’ is a better Movie, and more “exciting” than ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. A lot of people think that *The Beatles* are boring; A lot of people would rather listen to Bruno Mars and Maroon 5-Than *The Beatles.*
@megavolt672 жыл бұрын
@@CipherCerberus You're stacking the deck a bit there, aren't you? An apparently middling superhero movie like Morbius? Why don't you compare 2001 to a genuine action movie classic like say, Terminator 2? If I said that I personally thought Terminator 2 was a better movie than 2001 even though 2001 was arguably greater art, would that be wrong? I don't think so. First Kubrick and now The Beatles? Are you a Brit or something? I'd rather listen to a lot of other music than The Beatles (not Bruno Mars or Maroon 5 though, ha) and I don't think that means I'm passing up fine art for schlock. I respect their contributions to band music, but there have been many great bands. There have also been many great singers/songwriters besides McCartney and Lennon. Anyhow, I don't think art should be an excuse for something being less exciting (though I will say that the HAL section in 2001 is definitely not boring as there's some genuine suspense there). Nor should a movie being exciting necessarily be held against it for not being serious enough. Rather, one should give credit to both art AND entertainment. That's why both Mayweather and Pacquiao can be appreciated for their strengths even if someone thinks Mayweather is boring or that Pacquiao's fighting technique isn't as artful. Who you think was "better" then depends on how you personally decide to weigh their achievements.
