He favors vocal maturity, innovation, a lil music theory and production value, he talks about how it was very specific and well thought out for the entire album of circles to be close to the ear like mac is just sitting down with you at the end. personally, I love swimming, but I can see why he didn't like it, the kick was funky, like there was bass but it wasn't really resonating right, the perc is kind of annoying and the vocals could've been a lil more clear, and while they we're all choices, I can see what is happening in his mind after watching this list, but yes....emotionally. This is coming from someone who is outside of the mainstream rap circles and genuinely has a hard time listening to a lot of rap. Most of Anthony’s favourite rap albums I really enjoy as a non rap fan, Kendrick is excellent, clipping. Are phenomenal, death grips and Danny Brown are stellar and so different to everything else, Kanye is on another level and Denzel is insane too. The only rapper I enjoy that Anthony doesn’t is Childish Gambino but that being said Camp is not a particularly good record. Anthony likes when things sound different, as a reviewer he listens to soooo much music that when a Danny Brown comes along then it really takes you by surprise. That’s how I see it anyway.

I’d have accepted a 5-6 from melon for Swimming since he’s biased to really, really not like Mac Miller, but a 3 was just him being biased. To most other people it’s a solid 6-8 depending on how much you enjoy Mac’s music.
