I really dig the Olds/Hammond match, better than any other 3 combinations !!!

Both great instruments, excellently played, well done!

I was surprised that I heard more confident slots and 'ring' to the tone from the Olds. I always figured the King was the standard and anything else was derivative.

A lot of people do prefer the Olds, actually. The King had the distinction of inventing the term "flugabone", but I don't actually know which one came first. The King is also the one I'm used to (I own the King, and am trialing the Olds), so it's doubly interesting that the Olds seems to do certain things better.

The first marching baritone I ever played was the Bach Mercedes produced version of this horn. Absolutely loved it. Definitely a reason why I prefer Yamaha marching brass today.

Definitely the Olds O-21 as far as these two instruments are concerned.

I played a musical recently with a flugabone part, which I played on trombone, but now I really goddamn want one, thanks lol

What show?

@Finetales Be More Chill! The book is trumpet, flugabone, theremin and recorder, I'm a terrible trumpeter, so I put my trombone through an octave pedal to cover the trumpet parts lol

I marched in high school with a very similar “marching trombone” from Blessing. Played great until one of my section mates had it the next year and dropped it. RIP

Hi Tiffany! You sound really nice! I too play flugabone; would you like to do a duet or two?
