Whats cool about the small particles behaving like fluids is that in special effects sand is often used as fast water in minatures sets. Like in Ghostbusters when a fire hydrant on the street erupts for example. That is all sand.

The velocity calculation seemed little weird, you could have used v = u + at, which would have been easier, you have used the same but with much more work
