Hey Gang! We've been waiting a long time for this one! Had the idea of the reglet baseboard detail wayyy back in the framing stage so really cool to see it come to life here! We did cut a 6 inch piece of base to check it out after we were done and MAN does it look good!
It feels like we're getting so close! So what team are you on, Vanilla or Blonde?!

Nice work Studpack. I installed a new shower enclosure last year and wanted to use Trimtex. There's a different version than you used with a wider perforated flange... that's the correct shit to use. Tried to source it...nope...gotta buy lifetime supply. Even though I live a couple miles from Trimtex ...no can do. I ended up using the stuff you guys used for around windows that one place in all of SoCal had. Another: great product nobody fukn has! Next shower I'll call Trimtex again and tell them that I'm doing a re-clit shower and a bundle will get delivered as a sample for crying out loud.

When you install tongue & groove ceilings, always measure out how many boards it will take to finish to the edge. If you need 20.2 whole boards, then you'll have a super skinny end piece. Instead, tablesaw your first board so that it will be similar in size to your end board. This is especially important because it allows for framing errors without being too noticeable. If your framers are out of square by 1/2", then that's less noticeable on a 3" wide end piece than a 1" wide end piece. On another note, if your boards aren't long enough and you need to splice them, I recommend mapping out a good "center beam" point that goes perpendicular to the others so that all of your boards remain unspliced and simply dive into the "decorative beam." It is a very clean look that elevates your work above your competition.

I did a shadow on a knee wall shadow line between the top of the knee and an oak shelf at the top. I recommend that you paint the recessed shadow area flat black. I LOVE Paul's comment about a clean jobsite being a morale booster. 18:20 It is 100% true. My brother-in-law is redoing his master bath, but it's taking forever, and there's tools and materials all crusted with dried thinset everywhere! All I did was tidy up a bit and his wife thinks I'm the bee's knees. (My pleasure, sis, you're the best)! Oh--I also did the plumbing 😅

Kind of feel like this may have been an after the fact decision. Would have been simpler to rip a piece of wood the size they needed for the reveal and tack it to the wall when hanging drywall, then install the reglet before having the dyrwall joints finished. There was a lot of extra work the way they did it...but modern details like this are still extra work even when you do it efficiently. It's why so many homes just stick with the traditional way of doing things.

Can you update with the finished baseboard? That would be great? Also, when you set the baseboard in to show the viewers (26:06) there was approximately a 2"plus gap at the bottom, the flooring would make up for that gap. Is there something else that goes under that? Love the concept and glad I came across this video. No more cleaning baseboard dust!

In isolation, I like the blonde colour, but against the cabinets, it looks better with the vanilla.

Never been a fan of Jordans LEDs everywhere fad vision (to each their own), but the overall project as a whole itself has been awesome. I was thinking back to the swamp that was the slab build that seems so long ago. Yall have come a long long way. As awesome as the garage/apartment build has been, the house is going to be epic.👍

Vanilla's going to look a lot better with the modern aesthetic. More neutral.

Painter here, when covering the five of mud just lay a piece of painters plastic and push it down on the mud, stays good for a long time, no water on top. Also I never sand between coats, knife down the mud and skim it again, saves time and no dust between coats of mud...

Respect for the patience and labor to do it, but it’s clearly not worth it. You might as well put LEDs in it while you’re at it. It’s a f you feature and the LEDs will let it be known!

Flush base is a definite yes. I specify reveals in lots of situations…they add a ton of character for a small material cost (though they’re not cheap labor wise), and they make transitions beautiful. Great job!

Defs not for me, BUT probably one of the only channels to actually make a really clear how to install it! Just make sure the title or subtitle is clear enough for anyone to find this video! The lights in the end are sooo nice!

Baseboard too tall. All the LEDs, looks like pimp crib.

Baseboard height traditionally would be considered based on height of wall and importance of room. Personal preference plays a factor.

The ceilings are tall.. so the reglet baseboard is more than fine - and syncs with the modern look of the studio-apt.. but yeah, the overboard amount LEDs look like a pimp crib - or a strip club as another poster said.

7:00 You can use the mud, the odor goes away when it dries, done it plenty of times in my house and never had an issue with the odor coming back or the mud not sticking or anything. Also use distilled water when mixing and covering the top with water for storage. Works amazing.

I have the same taste as this guy. The windows are exactly what I would do and the flush mount baseboards are just awesome, so much stronger aesthetically than normal trim. Normal trim always looks so cheap like it was just slapped on there. Flush mount is more built in, like an integrated wall system.

Every video I learn something new or take away a tip or trick on how to do something. Place is looking good, stoked so see more progress. I like how this video also showcased a few things y’all got done, baseboards, tongue and groove, LED strip etc, just shows how much there is still to do and y’all are chipping away. Keep it up!

Happy Birthday, Jordan. And you will catch zero grief from me about the walls and ceiling being the same color. I'm a huge fan of same color on both walls and ceiling, with white being my color preference. Looking forward to your next video.

REM (rapid eye movement) sleep is characterized by body paralysis but the most brain activity of all the sleep cycle stages and occurs right when people are falling asleep and just before they wake (naturally). N3 sleep is the "deepest" stage (and very important to the regulation of the immune system).

I did a skirting like that on my last house except that we have to structurally fix our wall linings for earthquakes, so I had to use an extra nogging along the bottom of the sheets. I also ran the plasterboard back into the window so I had no jamb or architrave and had a negative detail around the doors. A really cool and unique look.
