What line were you using? I have this in a #4 with SA #4 Frequency Trout. I think it’ll perform better with a shorter taper or their multipurpose which is more like a #4.5, though I still enjoy the slower action. Takes me back to the 80’s only this is a much better glass rod. For the price, this is a great value and feels like my Orvis Superfine. Admittedly, I feel ashamed for having spent $500 on a rod that performs on par with a $40 rod.

Im not sure...its an older line i lost track of after a few line swaps.

I had that exact rod and it made me hate fiberglass until I got rid of it and tried a custom built glass model. I hated the SLOW action of the rod and it definitely takes a lot of adjusting to set the hook without missing lots of fish.

Yeah its too slow in my opinion too. I only have a couple short models of it now. Prob best to fish it a line wt under spec.

Ill take my hat off to you for your success in what I consider a river not worth the effort for the amount and size of fish that are in it. (with very rare exceptions) Ive fished that river from the park boundary upstream100s of times in my life and it just is not very fertile in terms of fish. Straight fork in Big Cove above the Cherokee hatchery is far superior when it comes to park streams IMO. If you know how to fish it.

Thanks...it was one of just a few times id fished it and did alright. I like Bradley Fork more but i was guessing i would be fishing already hit water that day so went elsewhere.

curious question, why all the false casting? is there something there im not seeing?
@diyvintagefly11 ай бұрын
2 reasons..line didnt shoot great with the slow CGR and it helps dry wet dry flies.

Drying a soaked fly and a line thats too light for the rod
