Thanks Cory! Yeah it’s a nice bit of water that one, fishes better when it’s a bit clearer.

Great spot, Steve. Thanks for this, I've noticed Tom J. carrying two rods and sticking one down his back, wasn't sure how he was doing it, but this was very clear. No excuse not to carry the euro rod I've been sitting on for 18 months now! Appreciate you sharing, always great to see what other people are doing. Cheers PP

Thanks mate! Yeah it’s a good way to do it, a lot of the comp guys are fishing like this now. :)

@@PeachyFlyFishing The comp stuff is all a bit mysterious, so it's great to get some insights. Also, TCD is now legal for two rods, so keen to take a dry/nymph and a separate streamer rod. That way I can be twice as frustrated. 😀 PP

I’m a double rod convert as well! I too learnt it from trying comp fishing, but overall it’s just more practical!
@PeachyFlyFishing7 ай бұрын
Thanks Patrick, yes I agree it's a great way to fish if you've got room to carry a second rod. :)

Thanks Steve for the reply re magnifiers. I'm not too worried about looks, practicability is more important. I have to go to the opticians soon for new glasses and will make some enquiries. Thankyou

Hi mate I'm an older bloke learning to fly fish and noticed your crazy glasses as you call them. My eyes closed up have been getting bad since I had cancer so I need some of the glasses.Where did you get them and how much? Kind regards Scott
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Gday Scott, I got them through an optometrist, George and Matilda eyecare. They were about $40 from memory, I went for the highest magnification (3x). They work really well as long as you don’t mind looking like a mad scientist! 😂 Another option is stick in bifocals that you can stick into the bottom of your fishing glasses, similar price for those. I’ve had a lot of issues with trying to get the right solution for glasses, might do a video about that actually! :)

Nice video, very educational. What do you think about having Tenkara as one of the rods would that contribute to the idea?
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I haven't fished Tenkara myself, but I think it would probably be very easy to carry as a second rod particularly if it's telescopic.....Give it a go! :)

Brilliant mate. I enjoy carrying two…think it’s great in situations when your changing methods within runs often. As you say an open beat when you’re not walking far. Frustrating on long bush bashes though! I guess like everything in this sport, situation dependent! Most comp fishermen would throw a pretty good dry fly on a nymphing rod wouldn’t they?
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Thanks Anthony! Yes as you say it’s situational. Throwing a dry fly is always better on a dedicated dry fly rod I reckon, plus it takes more time to change back and forward. Most comp guys now fish a micro leader for nymphing too, can’t throw a single dry on those but you can throw a dry dropper rig. :)

Very nice Steve. Is that Amnesia back on your Euro rod?
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Cheers mate! No it’s not Amnesia, it’s the Eaux Vives Color Line in 0.18 Green. :)

I just set my rod down next to me or if Im wadding in the river on the bank and walk back to it quick. But I fish in the pacific northwest not aussie land. I also find it pretty darn quick to to just tie a new fly on, use a longer tippet so your leader can stay intact
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Yeah for sure, it's all situational really. Sometimes I do that too, especially if I'm filming and I have to go back for the camera anyway......Yes it can be quick to just tie a new fly on, but I usually like to fish specific leader and line setups for nymphing and for dry fly that are very different - they do what they are designed for really well but they don't work for other techniques. I guess it just comes down to whether you want to carry 2 specialised rigs or 1 generalist rig. Thanks for watching! :)

@PeachyFlyFishing good point, hope too see more of the aussie waters from your video!

Noticed the soft fly pad similar to Tom Jarmans. Are they available in Aus? Like your work, excellent content.

Aussie angler in melb are stocking them
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
Thanks Bruce! Yeah I bought it from former Spanish team member David Ferreira Garcia, if you can get it through Aussie Angler as Erhan said then that would be the easiest way. :)

Hi Steve, Scott mentioned the clip on magnifiers, I often considered getting a pair but still carry a pair of cheap 3x in my vest . I too (and I'm sure many others) would be interested in your thoughts.Cheers
@PeachyFlyFishing7 ай бұрын
G'day Peter, yeah the clip on magnifiers are pretty good actually, if you can get past the way they look! They work very well for threading tiny hooks and tippet, and I haven't had them fall off yet. I've carried reading glasses on a lanyard but had problems with the lanyard breaking and losing glasses. Another solution I've been experimenting with is stick in bifocal magnifiers, they are essentially little magnifier strips that you stick inside your fishing glasses on the bottom. Those are pretty good too, they look a lot more acceptable than the "crazy glasses" clip on ones, but they are fixed there permanently so they do distort your field of vision just down at the bottom which could be an issue, particularly for wading etc. I've not found a perfect solution for this problem, but I'd say looks aside the clip on magnifiers work very well....hope that helps! :)

Ii understand the idea behind but im not too sure its for me, i hate having to carry more when fishing and would rather bring a single rod thats suited to a bit of everything im attempting but im sure there's more fish to be caught using this method!
@PeachyFlyFishing8 ай бұрын
For sure mate, it’s a little bit more awkward than just carrying a single rod. But it does have advantages in being able to quickly and easily cover different types of water. Great for comps where you have a short beat and you have to make the most of it, but also fun if you just want some variety in your day. :)
