Fly Tying how to tie a variation on the March Brown Dun (for Dry Fly Fishing)

Tail - Ginger Cock hackle fibres
Body - Moose Mane
Underwing - Brown CDC
Overwing - Coastal deer hair
Thorax - Troutstalkers Natural Opossum
The March Brown hatch early season can be outstanding offering trout anglers superb sport. I have a number of variations on the pattern but this is one of my favourites! There are some great techniques in this video to try as well as some different materials that you might like to give a go with some of your own fly tying.

Hi Lindsay, nice dry fly, will give this a go, will need to sit at the hole in the skirting board to get me some moose hair🤣🤣 the roe deer wing gives the nice markings of the March brown natural. Thanks for another great video, cheers Jimf

I have all the ingredients including Roe Deer. That stuff is hard to find here!! I had to order it from Europe last time. Did I send you moose? I can't remember! I know I meant to but for two months I was not me so I may have forgotten. If I did message me, will send some forthwith! March Brown Patterns are some of my Favorite patterns. In particular the original Wetfly, because it was my Dad's favourite fly to fish in lakes. He's 88 this year and does not fish anymore but I fish them because it honors him and because he got me into the addiction when I was very young. Thanks for sharing this Lindsay! I do my mosquito's with moose main ,one brown one white. I would use zap-a-gap on the thread wraps before paltering the moose main up the shank. The fly lasts for a few more fish.

That deer hair has a great effect, does it work instead of a quill on a buzzer or does it not work?

It’s moose mane pal and it works very well as a buzzer.
