That's a beautiful fly!!.. That's the BEST looking March Brown pattern I have seen. I love those colors and the wing markings are alsome. I have got to order the materials to tie up some of those. Thanks for another GREAT LESSON!!!...

Davie, Nice twist on a traditional pattern with the soft hackle mix. Also a very personal approach on the pattern giving it a bit more time than you would normally. You have been on a tear lately with some great uploads, Thanks again. John

Second time watching this video Davie as I've been watching you tie in wings recently. You tied these wings 'forward of the eye'. Is that because it's a 'dry fly' ? Thanks

Back again for a marathon of your videos... spring is around the corner here in New York! I tie a version of your fly here, but with a CDC tuft instead of pheasant and the like, because I am not as skilled a tyer as you... Let me tell you the fish don't seem to mind! Thanks for all your work!

Great fly - you make those wings look so easy, I always end up with a bunch of individual barbs looking like a porcupine at the front of the fly. A video concentrating only on tying just this type of wing would be greatly appreciated.

I have been on the Tweed as early as opening day and seen these hatching in numbers. Last year (2013) they appeared late March and trout were rising for the duns midday.. This looks spot on for a fly to target them with. Thanks yet again, Davie.

Another beautiful fly. I really like the soft hackle tied through the dry fly hackle. It gives the fly a much larger silhouette. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. All the best to you. Sean

Not had much sucess with patterns that require wings. You make it look amzingly easy. Suppose it helps having great supplies too.

To save my wings just that tad longer I get a tiny brush and use a liquid glue and just gently brush them on the wings keeps them good for bit longer and stops them spilting over casting long periods

That's a beautiful fly. I got my order in today of Hen Pheasant Quills. I'm fixen to give that pattern try. That's sharing that pattern with us. Question: Is a complete Ring Neck Pheasant pelt a good investment for feathers to tie with? Does it have a lot of soft hackle and other good feathers to tie with? Thanks
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, The Ring Neck Pheasant does have a few nice feathers though for soft hackles I prefer a few others like Hen Pheasant ,Partridge, Wood duck, Snipe, Grouse, Waterhen and most ducks...I'm glad you liked the fly and Merry Christmas... All the very best Davie

Hi Dave, There's lots of guy's that I know like a gold rib on this fly and I too would recommend that you have some tied with it..I like to use a traditional tinsel which is normally a bit darker than some of the new ones on the market.. All the very best Davie

Davie that is probably my favorite one yet. Is there any way that you could tie a Dave's Hopper? ~Austin~
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Austin, I'm glad you enjoyed the video..I've never tied a Dave's Hopper before as we don't really get a huge amount of them to cause the fish to go for them, not that they wouldn't if they had a chance..I can't promise to tye one but you never know... All the very best Davie
