Well since you didn't answer my last inquiry I will! I tied up a handful of these (and the silicone ones) +some of the fuzzy juniors and hit one of my rivers north of here for smallies. These flies were KILLER. The action on these is incredible. Nailed 9 smallies the biggest being 3.5 lbs. Tie these up - they work great! Best color combo for me was a red/brown. Amazing!

Congrats Gunnar. You can tell this fly has years of tying and fishing experience behind it. Clearly explained and taught. Fantastic video. Looking forward to tying this.

You have serious skills in tying. What is equally impressive is your language skills! You are very articulate and very accurate/effective in describing how you manipulate the fibers and thread. If I tried, I feel like I would sound much more like a cave man. Lol! Anyhow, really great job, I'm subscribing!

Just watched your vid of using this fly. Don't be embarrassed by your excitement, I've been known to drraw a crowd catching 6-8 inch bluegill on a fly I tied when other people were catch ing 1-2 lb. crappie. My voice carries, I guess. Nah, it's just exciting fun!!

Hi Gunner, I thought I'd drop you a line. I shortened the length of the fibres from a 3" to a 2" fly and caught a 7lb. pike out of our bow river.Thanks.

great video and great pattern. take a hint from the West Coast Steelheaders using dubbing loops- have a dish of water nearby to wet your fingers and stroke the fibers backwards as you go. makes handling the material in the loop much easier.

Thanks for the first of many tutorials on your Chosen One series, always great to start off with the Bare Bones platform and build from there. The Infinite Fly principle at work, all flies are built from those basic parts of tail, body, wing and head, etc... Since I am saving money where I can, I will have to wait until after my brother, my Dad and I get back from our hunting/fishing trip to Idaho from Oct. 6th-20th to pick this up and give it a go. I have quite a bit of material, but not the suimpish hair, strung fuzzy fiber, and that winging flash. May just get the color combo packs. That Firetiger looks dynamite for musky here in some local waters. I may even figure out how to put one of those bright orange or black wiggle tails off the back. So many options that can sprout from this platform. Hmmm I wonder how many flies could be tied of the size you just tied with the amount of material in each color combo pack?

Great fly Gunner., really enjoyed the new technique in tying in the material. Have you ever thought about adding stinger hook? I could see salmon and steelhead hitting this pattern and just thinking about short strikes.

Awesome flies and tutorials! Is there any downside using a pre-made fuzzy fiber brush for the head, as opposed to using the dubbing loop method? I have a dubbing brush tool and was thinking of trying that to make the head process a little easier. Thanks!

Is it safe to cut the squimpish hair with good tying scissors? Or is it similar to craft fur in the way that it dulls scissors super quick?
@Gunnar_Brammer5 жыл бұрын
I have no issues with it or the Strung Fuzz dulling scissors. I'm using 4.5" Hair Scissors and they continue to cut it like they did on day one.
