What an inspiration you are!!! You are a lot like my kids, who are about your age now. They grew up with 6 or 7 airplanes going through our inventory. We have a grass strip right here at the house in Chico CA. The most inconvenient thing of owning an airplane is keeping it at an airport. My first plane was a Cessna 120. I didn't know how to fly anything. Paid $3000 for it in 1972. Painted it in a friend's Barn. Flight instruction was $4 per hour then, and gas was 45 cents for Av Gas. Car gas was 22 cents. A hanger was $30/mo, then, but that was too expensive so it stayed outside for $10 a month. We flew it from Chico Ca to Canada with only a "coffee grinder radio" -(Narco vht3) It got reception about when you could see the station. The only Nav aid we had was windows. A couple in between that and then a 1952 C model Bonanza!. I put about 850 hours on that Bonanza. (all those hours were on car gas) Loved it. My 4000+ hours were mostly in tail draggers. Over the years they included: A Helio Courier, Two Cessna 170s- one with 180hp and constant speed prop, a C150 Aeorbat converted to a tail dragger and a 150hp and constant speed prop, Cessna 120, A Tiger Moth, Interstate Cadet, a Glass Air 1, a BD5 which never flew, a KR2, and Pietenpol Air Camper. Then there was the Taifun motor glider (loved it too) and a Lake Buccaneer. We flew that Buccaneer from NY to CA, then the next year all over the west -Idaho mostly and Washington. It had a turbo so those 7000' altitude lakes were accessible. Lots of air plane camping!! That C model Bonanza is darn good on the rough runways. Strong gear, slow stall speed, (about the G model saw an increase of 10mph in the stall speed) and a front wheel only a few inches behind the prop. This is important!!!! Un like the Moonies that have that wheel 2' behind the prop. -A divit will put the prop in the dirt! Ours landed on lots of dirt roads and Playas in Mexico. It had the Britton (20 gallon) tip tanks. About 1980 I took a summer to fly the C170 with the 180hp to Alaska. There were no GPS things out yet. We filed flight plans up there with the local grocery store. We got about 200 miles up in the Arctic Circle, where the compass didn't work either. NV aids were the windows. IT was OK on the sand bars, but nothing like the Helio. The Helio has the only flight manual that states: If you have to land really short, lock the breaks first!. Of the 14 planes I had over the years the Bonanza and Helio were the favorites. I could land that Helio on our front lawn!! - 286 feet long. That is amazing for a 6 place plane. It was a gas hog! And slow. Google: lawn toy helio courier for some good pics. These days I get a lot of exercise looking for my car in the parking lot. Still a pilot though. First I cut the firewood, then I Pile it

You are welcome. When I was born (back in 1965) my father actually owned an aircraft rental business that he and a partner ran out of Van Nuys, Ca. They had a bunch of small aircraft, from what I was told. Those included a Beechcraft Bonanza, another Beechcraft with two engines, a surplus P-51 Mustang, an Ironka(?) Chief, a few bi-planes, and number of others I heard. The only picture I still have of any of that is of my mother sitting on the wing of one of the planes, out at Monument Valley, Utah in 1964 ish. That plane was red and white, and had a tail like a "V". Back then when they needed fuel, they landed on the open highway and pulled up to a gas pump, as a few rural stations had fuel that worked in small planes. My father and the partner sold the business a few years later. That is all I know of. I am going to watch more of your videos, I find them fascinating. @@bayflight

Always impressed with your checklists and radio work. Super sharp mind. Fantastic hand flying through the chop as well. By far, some of the best editing and audio on the platform!

She had superb training and was a great student. I have just recently become interested in general aviation and this is so refreshing to see after some of the videos I've been watching lately.
