I don't think of homeless ppl as needy. I think of them as having mental or emotional problems because it's almost always the cause. It's the people who buy a 3 room suite for a flight who are truly needy, because the underlying psychology that leads to such things is insecurity.

Excuse my 'paranoia' but could a American person of color, with considerable financial means, be allowed to book passage, and access the opulence of ETIHAD's "The Residence" Travel Lounge? I am asking, because should I manage to ever achieve my lifelong dream, of a "POSITIVE REVERSAL of FORTUNE", I intend to make Traveling, as a 'Premium' 1st Class Passenger, on as many of the Worlds Major Premiere Air Carriers, (ETIHAD, EMIRATES, BRITISH AIRWAYS, etc), as my Positive Reversal of Fortune, will allow. Thanking you, in advance. Respectfully... W. D. Wormack. P.S., please excuse my somewhat 'atrocious' attempts at English punctuation.

@@pints6994 I didn't argue otherwise. I'm merely pointing out what very few people realize because I've studied psychology as it relates to evo-biology and fear based motivations. What most think of as aspirational is actually a product of irrational fears that came about when our species was being shaped by the pressues of a much leaner environment. An environment in which we might not make it through winter, dry season, etc., if we didn't collect every resource possible manifests as decadence in our modern world of abundance. The only chance of progressing societies beyond conflict, corruption, and wild disparities that lead to renewal/collapse cycles, we'll have to learn that the law of moderation applies to everything. North American carriers, for the most part, could care less if you even survive your flight. There is no possible way any of them would EVER change their mindset and corporate plan from ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM profits to having even a tiny concern about customer service. To them, fliers a basically the same as Amazon packages.

Great review Patrick, an amazing flight. I got the impression you had cabin fever in that first lounge it was kind of strange, I think I would have preferred a first class or business lounge where you could at least talk to people if you wanted to. The residence is amazing but so over the top. I think it's a bit of an experiment that isn't going to age well as it's too expensive especially for a mid haul flight. But you never know it is still cheaper than a private jet but offers the same sort of service.

It’s definitely an interesting middle ground between first class and a private jet. They’ve brought it back to New York and sounds like Toronto, Bangkok, or Sydney are in potential plans. For long haul routes it seems to make much more sense… even if it is way out of my price range 🫠

That Turkish coffee with all the powder at the bottom is totally authentic. It's how they make it. Once served it should not be stirred. Any sweetener is added whilst making the coffee so they would ask you if you want it sweet, medium or without sugar. Turkish coffee should be drunk whilst sipping plain water. Once you reach the dense powder at the bottom of the coffee cup, stop drinking, the powdery part should not be consumed.

4200 is quite cheap for The Residence. It’s basically three first class seats (not to mention the privacy and experience - being able to choose first or last to board as you’re the only residence seat on the flight) so you’re looking at 1400 per first class seat basically. Can’t see how it’s very economically rewarding for the airline (compared to regular business or first class) especially with the staffing required for the additional attention like three staff escorting you to your boarding. Doubt it will remain at 4200 for long and likely back to the 10k-30k price tag at least. Looks like you got a great deal. Thanks for sharing your experience. Interesting to watch. Would be a nice experience but don’t see myself flying on a middle eastern airline conveniently.

Great video. With regards to Etihad and it’s place among peers, I think, we will agree that Residence passengers do not make or break the airline, so we go level down to business and economy, Etihad is not quite in the same league as Emirates or Qatar, but they are not as expensive, generally. Etihad will do better when/if they join an alliance, possibly Sky.

It took some work to find that price but was definitely worth it after saving up. As for US airlines, as with most North American and European carriers, they just don’t have the same market so investing the money in ways like Etihad and Emirates would just end up crippling them. Nice. Please provide a link to where you purchased your steel suitcase I saw under the bed. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your world travels. It most likely will be the only way I see some places. I enjoy your vids for the content as they provide tons of information.

Thank you for a great review. They should return to Sydney. QR flies one daily while EK and SQ have multiple daily 380 flights with full very expensive first class cabins. Etihad is far superior.

Great review - thank you. What a great product which sets it apart from its competitors. The one thing that let's it down though is the comparatively poor standard of Champagnes and wines on offer - way behind all other carriers of a similar level. Good you saw BA's abysmal Economy offering as part of the same trip.

We have all seen The Residence vlogs. This is the first one that was described AFTER the flight. It really took away from the video. Film it ‘live’ to get more views. Still a great video.

Thanks but filming it live means I can’t get all the voice in there. Not tryna be talking in the middle of the flight

Hi Patrick. Thanks a lot for sharing this fantastic trip with us. I have one question: for this 3-room first class apartment, can I fly with two persons by paying the extra fees for one more person? Or I can only fly by myself? Thanks.
@PatrickSheaAviation Жыл бұрын
I believe that if you're sharing the space with someone else, the upgrade fee is slightly reduced for each person, but it may depend on the date. I would just check the website when making the booking

You guessed it right about the coffee lol The powder(coffee) should have settled and you should have drunk the liquid and you stop when you reach the settled coffee...

You summed it up nicely as to why people can and do pay for this: privacy really is important to them so they pay the mega bucks to have it.

For sure. If someone has the money, there’s no better way to travel commercially
