@@MrGoldman9 I was a passenger on Britten Trilander, the pilot being trained, was going to land on the Taxiway at Cancun. At the last moment the trainer noticed and yelled, Right, right. We made a big last minute S turn. I was laughing, the woman behind us was saying Hail Marys.

@@MrGoldman9 Someday, maybe, you will fly into Oshkosh. Then you will know... ATC calls base turn. ATC calls final turn. ATC tells you which colored dot to land on. That base leg was NOT the pilot's choice. You do what ATC says or you go away and fly someplace else. This guy did a fine job.

I landed a Challenger 300 there during the 2011 airshow. Fortunately, the field was IFR when we got there, so it was a piece of cake, not much traffic to deal with. The ground guys directed us to the wrong FBO, and no one had a tow bar that would fit a 300, so we had about 20 people pushing the jet back, include the rich guy we had on board and most of his family. About 10 minutes after we landed, an F-16 went off the end of the runway. Great video Bobby!!

Flying ag aircraft is the absolute most fun you can have with your clothes on! Of course I was flying in Manitoba and Ontario, both are ideal. I was involved in a number of projects in addition to spraying crops. I did a gig as part of a formation spray operation going after spruce budworm that, consisted of two CE-172 providing navigation and lead over the trackless forest and we were in a formation of three CE Ag Trucks, call sign.....Goldiocks and the Three Bears. In addition to being fun flying and it paid well and gave me the freedom to pursue a long satisfying career in aviation.

Is there a reason why there was no defined "final" on this landing? It seems like downwind is cut short with base putting the plane right at the threshold. Is it an Oshkosh thing due to so much traffic? Not criticizing at all, just want to understand. Thanks.

Andy Kopis at OSH the controllers call all legs including downwind, base and final as well as where exactly to land on the runway. Thus, the orange dot.

I have owned 6 Bonanzas - 5 V Tails 49-59 and an 1969 A36. Now I am flying a 1959 Comanche 250. My questions is, how much and what improvement did the Vortilons do for your plane. Both in Slow speed and landing?
@dunntexas5 жыл бұрын
The vortex generators add 100# to the useful load and improve slow handling characteristics as well as stall speed. I would estimate stall is improved by at least 5-8 knots. The slow speed handling is improved as the controls do t feel nearly as soft as without.
