On your run-up, at the end, you may want to pull the throttle all the way to idle while carb heat is still on. That way you'll know if the engine is likely to continue running while on final approach. I'm sure your wife will enjoy the David Clark headset; they have an excellent warranty! I bought the DC One X for my husband several years ago.They needed some repair about a year after the warranty ended. Still, the DC people were pleasant to work with, and the cost of repair was more than reasonable. I was using the Clarity Aloft (as they don't mess up my hair) for years but recently switched to the Bose A10's. All of them are overpriced as is most things with aviation. When I first started to fly, back in 1971, we had no such luxuries as headsets! haha Keep the content coming and I appreciate the labor of love to do the recording, as well as the editing! I own a Bonanza myself, but if I ever find a reasonable Tri-Pacer, I'll add it to my collection.

Great airplane David. I’ve owned my 1955 Tripe since 1985 and use it mainly for transportation to Put-in-Bay from Shelby. My residence is on the east side of the Put-in-Bay runway and looks like an air traffic control tower. I know Gary and Jan from the Short Wing Piper Club Buckeye chapter.

Great flight again with lots of detail. Thanks very much. I was able to load your flightplan into Foreflight and load the Approach Plate for RNAV RWY 22. Following that, I replayed the video and followed along, matching your words with locations on the flight plan: I73 FIGPU RNAV (GPS) RWY 22 I69. Also picked up the approach fixes of JERAL, GOSCE, and JEDIX. ATC communication was another big plus. I was PPL-SEL and no instruments, so this was a great lesson for me. Thanks again!

That’s awesome. When I was in training I never thought I could figure out ATC lingo. The truth is you can get close and be fine. Just tell them what you want in as few words as possible. :)

Excited to see this review. I know Bose is the new standard but I’m a sucker for nostalgia and would love to be wearing green when I return to the sky. Grew up very proud of my DCs. Still have my first set. They are pricey but Bose makes enough money selling stereo speakers. Great approach. What a great way to build the instrument hours! 👍
@davidschmaus14 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m a sucker for the green DC’s too. My initial 35 minute flight home tells me that they are very close in comfort for short flights and I couldn’t tell any difference in noise cancelling. I hope to put a long flight on them soon and see if they stay comfortable longer. I’ll let you know! Thanks for watching!

May I ask why you have your G5 as a DG? Vs having it setup as an HSI?
@stevegarrett48693 жыл бұрын
is it hard dealing with the plane bouncing and moving around and making the typical corrections you would make if you are not in IMC, but not being able to see out. my dad owned one of these planes in the mid 50's, what is the digital instrument next to the g5? not the radios

It was an auction place near Topeka Kansas a tri-pacer out of annual for three years they had the logs they sent me a copy of the logs I couldn't really see much just from two open books on my phone they told me they was no rush to pick it up the storeage was $35 a month I watch the countdown on the final day the winning bid was $10,000 I had plenty of time to put in a bid for $10,050 and would have won that airplane but I live in North Las Vegas Nevada and the airplane was in Kansas I still kind of regret of not buying it for $10,050 dollars I don't remember the engine size but somehow I think it was 180 would that be correct?

Hey Bryce. Thank you! It’s an awesome new pilot plane. I have only had my license for just over a year and I bought this just before I had my check ride. Its easy to fly and probably the best value in aviation. I bought mine for 25k with a low time engine I’m really good condition. I would say unless you want something to fly IFR in this is the perfect plane. Good luck!

As someone who works in the Entertainment industry, it has always irked me that Boise, the king of overpriced consumer crap, has come in and swept up the Aviation industry. Especially when Pro Audio vendors like Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser made better products, but got pushed out by Boise simpley because not many outside of the Entertainment industry are familiar with Pro Audio brands. If I ever get back to flight training, I'm definitely going to look at getting a used Beyerdynamic HS 600 or Sennheiser HMEC 250. I'm definitely now interested to see your review, to see how Boise compares to David Clark.
