Flying to Spruce Creek & St. Augustine | Airport Hop in Diamond DA40

Flying into Spruce Creek was a bit of a surprise. This aviation community is bustling with airplanes and very busy. A tailwind had us overshoot the base to final turn but we ended up aborting the first landing and overflying the field for another attempt. The tailwind was still an issue on base but the landing was smooth. The taxi way to the runway was a little different. A good pre-flight planning would be to understand the taxiways as well and your runup areas. St. Augustine is a wonderful place to visit for a short trip if you are in Florida.

Enjoying the videos in the DA-40! I’m finishing my PPL over in the UK and want to “hour build” in the States. Can anyone recommend a good FTO that will hire out Diamond DA-40’s to newly rated PPL pilots in Florida?

Good decision not to push it. BTW I have noticed you never banked more than 15/20 deg in the turn. It’s easy to overshoot if not banking to 25/30 deg. My 2C

I have several times as well but made the decision to go around too.
