I live 5 minutes from Plauderville and hearing the horns from my house is always amazing. I tend to go to the station as much as I can because of the flybys and the occasional freight that passes through.

17:45 Horn reminds me of DM 511 although it’s not in service anymore after a derailment back in 2019 in Speonk🙁

Joe of RR - I reside in the sunny south where we rarely see that stuff called snow. Our commuter train down here is totally computerized & the only thing that the "engineer if he can be called that" does is open the doors. I used to live on the island

I actually invented that term because he is of French descent. He loves it. Everybody calls him that. I started a trend. I know several engineers and I have nicknames for each of them. Their nicknames stick with them forever. Virtually every railfan in New Jersey when they hear the name French Onion Soup, they know exactly who I am talking about.

The railroad is reshuffling crew assignments at that time. He’s not losing his job he will most likely be assigned to a totally different job. Different runs
