Keep the videos coming. Great info. How did you get the nut to back off after spinning the new grease in there? Use a pin in the hole?
@NEILSWORLD5 жыл бұрын
After watching the video I was bummed that I didn't include that. It actually just backed off with a few trigger pulls of the impact gun.
@NEILSWORLD5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking later that locking the two nuts together on there with a couple wrenches may have been a better choice in case it did not want the back off.

Thank you for the film. I need to change bushing on the outer edge of the Lower Control Arm in the car 2001 Saturn SL2. I ordered a new bushing for that model, but it is only rubber bushing, no central bolt inside (in many films they show the bushing with that bolt). For that car I couldn't find a bushing with the bolt. Is it difficult to replace the old bolt into the new bushing? They sell that bushing, so it should be possible, but I didn't see any film on that particular operation. The bushing is on Amazon: MOOG K8436 Lower Control Arm Bushing. Of course I could just change the Lower Control Arm, but not in a mood to do that, bcs not quite ready now to go to the local shop to surrender in the case of failure.

If you turn the wheels all the way to the left or right you can sit on a shop chair comfortably in there
@FerminelHacker8 күн бұрын
You increased the wear significantly turning around with the impact wrench at the time of the greasing. Better you only put the grease once the tie rod is mounted and let the grease do its work while driving.

How do I clean the joint if my tied rod doesn't have a grease fitting?
@NEILSWORLD4 жыл бұрын
I have not done it yet but I have heard that some have drilled and installed grease fittings. Otherwise it's a replace when worn-out.
@olenaerhardt77254 жыл бұрын
It is very easy to replace that Outer Tie Rod, and maybe both (Inner (a bit more tricky) and Outer, they sell sets on Amazon for incredibly low prices, and very nice, with fittings).

@@umangu Thank you for the inspiration, I might try to change the Lower Contol Arm as well, though think that it will make me go and surrender to a local shop sooner. They have on Amazon a new tool: OTC 6007 Lower Control Arm Prying Tool. Someone wrote there: It's works better than using an old school chain. Just put a prybar in the hole and hook it to the control arm for leverage.

i just recently replaced two of my tie rod ends, and i overtorqed them, the rubber boots now look like pancakes even if i try to take it back off, would i be able to pull off the boot like in this video to "unsquish" it? or would i need new boots, or even new tie rod ends?
@NEILSWORLD2 жыл бұрын
Tie rods have a tapered shape and can not be pulled in to the hole of the opposite piece too far. The boots do flatten. That is normal. This is a aftermarket universal boot that doesn't flatten.
@captaininsano69673 жыл бұрын
