Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2 has finally released, and with it come a lot of questions. Who do we play as in Help Wanted 2? What’s up with us giving Cassie the Vanni mask? What about Glitchtrap being destroyed by Vanny? Is Glitchtrap the Mimic? Which ending of Security Breach is canon? What is Candy Cadet on about this time?

I think the context of Jeremy and the guillotine cutter makes a lot more sense now, especially after Ruin. We see Cassie being unable to remove the Vanni mask multiple times, as if it’s literally become fused to her face. Maybe that’s what happened to Jeremy and the VR headset - Glitchtrap trapped him in it, and in his panic he was only able to cut off parts of his own face but not the VR mask. Pretty gruesome, but a really compelling piece of evidence.

In Help Wanted 1, the phrase "Remember Jeremy" seems like a command, like Remember the Alamo. But in Help Wanted 2, I think it can be reinterpreted as "Remember, Jeremy?" when the player finds the memory.

I’ve always found it strange that the Vanny mask we find in help wanted is more fleshy and gross than the Vanni mask we find in Ruin. If that mask was Jeremy’s though, it would make sense where all the blood came from.

I believe that they’re both the same Jeremy. It’s entirely possible that Bonnie Bro grew up, got a job as a security guard (Jeremy Fitzgerald in FNAF 2), becomes a technician that works on the animatronics, stays with the company for long enough to be one of the beta testers for the VR game, then goes back to being a technician again and works at the pizza plex (as we see in Help Wanted 2)

One thing weird about Jeremy being both the beta tester in HW1 and Cassies dad, is that a beta tester, probably severely scarred, was able to get a job as a technician. Im not sure how much those 2 job markets have in common, but hey, its fnaf, thats probably one of the more normal things to come out of the franchise anyway.

@@IDsFantasy maybe Jeremy was also a Fazbear technician in the past, or more, a technician at circus baby's, which would explain the sister location parts of the game. What if the person who worked there before Michael in the main game is Jeremy, the one who built the hiding spot in circus baby's gallery. It would also explain why baby has green eyes in HW2, its happening before she yoinked Elizabeth. So, considering all the theories/Hypothesis, Jeremy would first be the Bonnie bully in fnaf 4. Then he'd grow up, maybe work as either an intern or have his first job at sister location. Seeing that, he'd probably try and go away from that world, do something else, becoming a beta tester with eventually, fazbear following him there, making him beta test for HW1. After that incident, he for some reason goes to work at the pizzaplex, ending his story in HW2. After HW2, Cassie, now fatherless, starts her story in Ruin. A wild theory with probably plenty of holes, but still kind of interesting.

@@vegetablegames3295 Funny thing about that is, you're right. Messages you find in Security Breach repeatedly state that she had no qualifications as a Security Guard. She wouldn't have been hired if someone from the top hadn't pulled some strings. I wonder if that plays a part in HW2's Protag being hired?

Theory time; the princess is quite noticeably confused at the start of the game. If the princess is supposed to be Cassidy as some theorist suggest, this could make sense. Cassidy is yoinked back from the afterlife to put Afton down again but is unable to and instead gives her sword to someone else. Cassie’s Father is then given the sword, given the responsibility, to deal with GlitchTrap in this new age. Cassidy was driven by rage and that rage possibly gave Afton the ability to become GlitchTrap and now Cassie’s dad is here, driven by his want to protect, to put an end to the man in the bunny suit. I think Cassie’s father may play a new protector role, something akin to Cassidy or the Puppet as him giving the mask could be his version of give gifts.

What if OMC is William Afton, so him and Cassie are trying to remove what keeps him trapped to the physical world in the Glitchtrap code. Because in Princess Quest 1, we see that glitchtrap is comprised of trapped souls with William Afton being one of them. In HW2, Glitchtrap is trying to lead you to Princess Quest 4 in order for you to destroy him. Which only makes sense if William Afton was possessing the Glitchtrap Code and trying to give you pieces of him, after you proven your worth to him (literally destroying in in Fazerblast). This is even more obvious when OMC was the one who given you the glitchtrap plushy, like Glitchtrap did (with the other six plushies) for the entire game. Perhaps the plushies are metaphors of sins that keep William Afton from moving on (seemingly creating roughly them by hand). And the figurines are the dark inspirations that keep the Mimic motivated. After all, William's daughter is Vanny, so it's expected that someone that loves him will try to free him from being inbound in the Mimic's evil.

Excellent theory as always! I'm still not sold that Vanny isn't Vanessa but the Jeremy is Cassie's dad theory is _really_ intriguing and helps explain Candy Cadet's story in a far more satisfying way than Vanessa or Cassie.

@@fallis07 Candy Cadet's story it tells in Ruin about a boy being lured down into the basement by a monster pretending to be his mother is clearly about Cassie being lured by Gregory's voice duplicated by the Mimic, just with the genders switched for the sake of telling it as a story Also, Scott has never really cared to keep gender signifiers consistent when dropping lore. Charlie/The Puppet and Cassidy/Golden Freddy have been referred to alternately as her and him at different points. .

It's kinda strange to me how abstract this game is when compared to the previous ones. Say what you will about the story being confusing; that usually came down to figuring out orders of events, motives, character identities, etc. I can't think of a single part of the previous games as wild as being stuck in a claw machine with a giant Vanny watching down on you.

Well FNAF 3 with the Nightmares is kinda like this, UCN with ultimate Hell also gets pretty unworldly. And then you could argue that gas in multiple other depictions of FNAF 4 show that illusions and perception altering, can really F up people. Help Wanted, Ruin and Help Wanted 2 all have those abstract unrealistic ideas and it clearly shows us the connection of people being affected, connected to or uploaded into technology. Similarly Princess Quest is direct abstract representation of Vanessa being possessed, locked up and controlled. I think this game specifically is going more wild only because the game itself is much more technologically better. If Scott was still making it and had made it in his usual style, this would have been a pixelart ending. This is Puppet giving life to the animatronics, this is Old Man Consequences, this is Chica going on dates in her best high school days. Those things were kinda abstract as well.

the style of lore in HW2 is much less direct then the style of lore that we've been getting in most of the modern fnaf games lol, it feels like a breath of fresh air, i agree. i was starting to get bothered by how plainly lore was being laid out. (ruin was fun however)

I had been theorizing that Jeremy from HW1 was important back when SB: Ruin was announced and I was considering the possibility that he was Gregory's father. After Ruin introduced a child with a father employee, my mind went right to him. Seeing someone else bring this up and even using the Candy Cadet story to further it is so validating and I am so on board. It's about time Jeremy got a theory. Thank you for fleshing out this idea. I hope more people pay attention to it!

For example in FNAF SB Ruin, Candy Cadet tells the story of a mother, a little boy and a monster, and if I remember correctly most people theorise it as talking about the little boy being parallel to Cassie.

Given we've already had one seemingly non canon glitchtrap demise, I'm going to invoke the rule of three and assume he survived for a third go around. After all, this is William, and he always comes back

Here's a thought: if the normal ending is Glitchtrap escaping, likely into the VANNI mask, could Glitchtrap be Helpi in Ruin? It would explain both how Helpi seems to get taken over, and how during the MXES banishment scene Helpi and Gregory somehow argue, implying they are different entities, but both keyed in to the VANNI mask.

@@IDsFantasy My primary issue with a MXES connection is: How? But with the Helpi connection, we have a direct line of cause and effect and a reason for Helpi to go to the basement and free the mimic, possibly as a way for William to regain some form of corporeal form. It is worth noting that this interpretation assumes that the normal ending of Help Wanted 2 is canon and that the Princess Quest ending (at least in terms of the "Glitchtrap is purged from the system" interpretation) is not, but it's a little difficult to tell if they're even mutually exclusive.

I suppose that could have been faked but it didn't really serve a purpose. It didn't help to fool Cassie or convince her to do anything. They were just squabbling for a second. It makes me think that either Helpi and the Mimic are entirely separate beings or are two diverging versions of the Mimic program.

What's really interesting about your theory is that it's not mutually exclusive with the Bunny Bro theory. He could be both and him partially causing the death of crying child would give motivation to work at Fazbears' endeavors to avoid it from happening again. So he might have been a technician for that reason and we can make up a bunch of reasons as to why he decide ls to be a beta tester for the vr game. I like your theory and I am more of the camp of adding it in my repertoire than choosing one of the 2

This is my personal headcanon as well. The only thing that's a bit weird is that he'd have to be ~50 years old when having a child and working as a VR beta tester, but that doesn't bother me since I don't think characters' ages matter that much :D

Plus one of Mystic Hippo’s lines about the character we are playing as looking at their hands. ‘Have you ever looked at your hands? Liked really looked at them?’ could mean more than just a hint to look at them to get the PSVR2 function working. It could be interpreted like ‘Do you ever look at your hands and remember how they were one of the two pairs that caused a child to die?’ Or not. It’s just a theory interpretation of it. I just think it’s a line that could mean a lot more than just trying to help the player know how her function works.

Food for thought: With the Bonnie model we get from the minigames, Bonnie is looking upwards in his "final moments", and with Monty not having his claws at the time of Bonnie getting gibbed, I am pretty sold on Bonnie being offed by Moon. Monty would NOT be the bass player if Bonnie was still functional, so Monty wouldn't have the "bass playing claws" installed, so Monty wouldn't have the hardware to rip open Bonnie. Freddy in Ruin also seems to have the same scratch marks as Bonnie on his chest, so pretty sure it is the same thing. Not to mention Moon being prominent in the Bonnie bowl game. Just some food for thought.

@@qualitytimewithted5160 neither answer is a good answer because bonnie is a robot and a character. he can and would be replaced or fixed if he got "killed", both SB and Tales confirm that fazbear fixes and replaces glamrocks when needed. whatever reason there is for his permenant decomission is more than being killed, because simply being killed makes no sense

The Gregory befriending Cassie initially as a way of keeping an eye on Cassie adds a whole extra layer. Ruin becomes much more of an elaborate backup plan than a crime of opportunity. Helpi has, presumably, failed to turn Cassie’s Dad, but is able to use the connection that GGY had created with Cassie, and the things that Cassie has learned from her dad, to set her up as the perfect person to free the Mimic in the basement. While Gregory and Vanessa may be free of Glitchtrap’s control, perhaps parts of GGY and Vanny remain. For both of them, Glitchtrap is a separate entity. GGY is the favorite apprentice, not the wizard himself. Vanny similarly has discussions with Glitchtrap that the therapists mention. Those AI personalities, no longer under the thumb of Glitchtrap, may have their own goals and desires. I’m thinking about both the Tales stories: the Monty Within that sort of shows how Vanny/GGY would work, but also B-7 2, that shows the corrupted parts having a life of their own after being removed. I’m not sure if Vanny and GGY live on in some part of Vanessa and Gregory’s minds, or if they might be inside the neural network (I.e. those are the two we see in the Brazil ending)

Man, its crazy how much Jeremy was developed. In HW1 he served more as a cautionary tale for Tape Girl and by extention us, persumably dying after cutting his entire face off. Such a clear cut (get it? Cut?) Story being turned into so much more is pretty neat to see

I think it's possible that Jeremy, the Bonnie bro, and Cassie's dad could all be the same person, and that our name is actually Jeremy Fitzgerald. While it's never explicitly said who the Bite of 87 victim is, it's heavily implied to be Jeremy Fitzgerald based on Phone Guy's tapes in FNAF 2. Perhaps this would go to explain Jeremy's lifelong fandom of Bonnie. Having been bit as a young adult teenager (if he was 14 during the Bite of 83, he would be 18 in 1987), perhaps the brain damage from losing his frontal lobe would make him have the permanent mindset of a child, well into the time of Help Wanted 1 in 202X (when he'd be 55-60). Perhaps he would even wear the Bonnie Mask to cover up the scars on his forehead. This would also explain why Cassie would be targeted specifically by Gregory, as if Gregory is indeed a robot and has the memories of Evan/CC, he would obviously seek revenge/vengeance against the instigators of the Bite of 83.

When this had came out and I saw the endings, I pretty much had the same idea. I always saw these endings as showing that at least for now, the Aftons are truly dead. and the people who were witnesses to the tragedies that took place are the only ones left to pick up the pieces left behind.

Before help wanted 2 came out, I always had the idea that The Mimic was used to house Glitchtrap as a sort of way for him to eventually be able to manifest into the real world, The mimic somehow being trained in a similar way to other endoskeletons to adopt negative traits, or the opisite of what normal behavior would be (The Crossed out posters in the endo bassment), eventually gaining enough information for Glitchtrap to use the pieces the mimic had learned in order to manifest as the last thing it remembers seeing itself as, which would be Burntrap. This is more of a headcanon then something that can be applied to lore, but If lore keeps going in the direction it's going, it may eventually point into this direction.

Love this theory! Your points got me thinking stuff I hadn’t considered about the continuity with HW, like Jeremy potentially being Cassie’s dad. The one thing is don’t quite agree with is the Candy Cadet story 🤔 at the end, the girl is essentially lured and gaslit back into the oven, which doesn’t really fit with what we se happen in HW 2. The story seems to imply the girl fell into a false sense of security while actually completely falling for the trap. Theres nothing trying to convince our character to rest or do anything really (except maybe the cut content, but again, it’s cut content). I can easily see this going into Vanessa or even Baby, too, but they still don’t quite fit either. It seems that, as always, Candy Cadet manages to makes all his fans suffer while staying beloved by them 😂

I think I already said something similar thing to this but I had a theory that Princess Quest is a trap. At the good Vanny ending before it cuts to Gregory playing the game and the arcade says Error. From a coder's perspective it makes no sense! Glitchtrap acts like an enemy/boss and dying to glitchtrap himself (not the smol bunnies boy) would delete the Princess sprite. This would lead to the error but many people would believe that it goes the other way around that the princess killed glitchtrap. This is the part that makes no sense there shouldn't be an error then if the princess killed Glitchtrap because he is an enemy in the game (unless he had some sort of cutscenes after the door opens which is unlikely due to him being a virus and not 100% part of the game) But now more evidence has came to light with Help Wanted two. I think that in the end of Princess Quest 3 Glitchtrap captured and did something wonky with the sprite making accessible to however tries to play (Gregory) which would explain the error and then Glitchtrap eventually trapped the Princess in the fourth game. Therefore people like Vanessa seemed to be free but are still trapped. A fact that may or may not back this is when you get the Gregory and helpy sitting on a hill ending in Ruin Vanessa can be seen in the back with some sort of ominous look on her face. There's also Vanny graffiti all over the ruined pizzaplex. Another Theory I have is much more wild and was doesn't make much sense but before Ruin came I thought that Princess Quest could have been UCN from Cassidy's perspective. Great video! I definitely subscribe to the idea that we play as Jeremy, and that Jeremy is Cassie's dad. But, I am also a believer in the theory that Jeremy is the Bonnie bully, the mask looking familiar is too much of an obvious tie in to me. And with the age, he would've been 45-50 when having Cassie and although not too common, is entirely possible. Scott Cawthon himself recently had a kid in his 40's. I also just really like the theory as it ties the new lore into the old lore so I could be biased lol.

Yooooo I like the idea of our player character being Jeremy! I hadn't thought of that before, but that really ties a lot of things together quite nicely, and FINALLY gives an explanation for the repetition of Remember Jeremy. It wasn't telling the player to remember Jeremy, but rather it was telling Jeremy to remember something (or to collect memories, which is what remembering is, in a certain sense). Now personally then with regards to Candy Cadet's OTHER story, about the "family that missed the most important opportunity of their lives", I think that Candy Cadet talking up a fantastic deal intended for a family, but referencing that it comes with a price, seems symbolic of the mimic (or glitchtrap) having an offer of some kind for Jeremy and Cassie (probably with regards to helping Jeremy get rid of Glitchtrap), with the price being falling under the mimic's control, and the family rejecting the offer leading to them dying being the mimic threatening to kill them if they didn't accept.

Thats also a connection to the Witch since Afton is a part of Glitchtrap, so getying bitten by an animatronic after mysteriously being switched to the dayshift could also be a prior encounter with the Witch

I see there is a bit of confusion regarding the tombstone numbering and that the fact that both Chica (Suzie) and Henry contradict who dies 1st. But I think there’s a way for both to be right. Suzie was the 1st killed, how ever since her body was stuffed into Chica it was never found. Charlie was murdered outside with there being no suit, she was just left there. Henry has no idea who was killed 1st just when they were. I think that Charlie was murdered on the same day as the missing children incident.

Wait! The "Halloween mask" could be something that Jeremy built himself, similar to Vannie. Because he was already falling into glitchtrap's control at the time, there would've been a lot of time for him to do that. So then he somehow snapped out of it, cut out the implant chip (or maybe something else happened like the mask inhibitor) and escaped for Vanessa to become the victim instead.

Thank you! I have so many problems with modern fnaf theories. People look too far in the past and forgeting that this era of FNaF is still building up a new narrative. Steel Wool is NOT Scott. The way they do storytelling is funamentaly different. They have people that came from the film industry. Framing is a big tool in film and in videogames. We need to learn what is the intended read instead of what we want to be read. The second ending, for me, reads as how Vanny no longer needs Glitchtrap, so she betrays it. There is people that belive that it is just a trick made by Glitchtrap, but that makes no sence. How? The body language. Glitchtrap gets scared when it realizes that Vanny was going to crush it, and she crushes HARD. And there is the cut voicelines but my rule with that stuff is "Its not canon unless stated. But it can help to understand the developers intent." If Steel Wool is going to fix Vanny's relevance in the active gameplay plot, THIS is the moment. TL;DR: There is too much dependecy in the old lore in modern theories in an era when a new story is being developed. (In basic terms, we don't have enough info.) We should focus more in the new charaters, plots and themes without bringing up the old lore too much. That story got it's conclusion.

I think help wanted 2 really helped the argument that princess quest ending is atleast somewhat canon, with old man consequences literally telling princess that she won. 2. Who controls the staff bots? I don't think Glitchtrap as they seem to want to prevent Glitchtrap taking control, plus why would Glitchtrap want Cassie to have the Vanni mask? 3. Vanny. The Vanny ending really seems to imply that Vanny is her own distinct entity now away from Glitchtrap, she afterall kills glitchtrap and then fades away. I don't quite know what to make of this. Right now my mind is heading towards multiple mimics but I really don't know. 4. The princess working with Vanny? It is a interesting thing to note, it seems the princess doesn't care at all about the Vanny, only wanting Glitchtrap gone I truly don't know what to make all of this, but is interesting

The term and concept of memories in this franchise is heavily associated with souls. Remnant is partially memories. Souls can bring out and bend memories. If Glichtrap's handing out his memories, it's gotta be at least partially William. Even if the Mimic DID learn about the MCI, I don't call the text books from my old history class "memories." I also like how you interpreted Candy Cadet's story being about Cassie's dad. When I first heard it, I, like many thought that it's about Vanessa. Many people were confused about the boy in the story because that would mean that GGY and Vanny are back. We do get an achievement for GGY after all. And I can see why so many people are confused but my interpretation of the story was that this was the story of how GGY was 'playing around' with Vanessa, watching her every move and manipulating her when she got off track. After all, Gregory was 'The Wizard's favorite Apprentice'. Not to mention how the therapist pointed out that patient 46 was the one doing the manipulating, not the other way around. (Also the thing about Bonnie bully being in his 50's when Cassie was born; It's actually a common thing. I, for example, was born when my dad was in his late 40's, he's currently in his early 60's and currently I'm a young teen. Give or take, but it's possible so seeing people say that he can't be Cassie's dad because of his age is just nonsense to me.)

My theory as soon as I saw the achievement was that Cassie's dad is the Bonnie Bro (that's what MatPat calls him, so that's what I've grown to call him). The only Jeremy associated with Bonnie is MCI Jeremy who was stuffed into the suit. So I immediately thought that the Bro part is literal and Bonnie Bro is Jeremy's older brother. So the achievement is saying "remember your dead brother?"

I am not much of a theorist myself, but a detail that won't leave my mind is that Freddy is blind due to being frozen in his minigame. There has to be a meaning behind that all. If the player is Jeremy, why would it make a difference if Freddy would see him? I also don't see Baby getting mentioned enough. Seems so weird for me that this game puts so much emphasize on her, yet I haven't seen a theory about her. Especially in the weird carnival minigame (with the darts, balls, gun etc) where she appears and says something like "Do you really think I wouldn't find you?". But anyway, great vid :)

@@IDsFantasy Probably. Prototype Freddy didn't see Cassie and HW2 Freddy didn't see Jeremy. Either because they are both related OR because they both wore the Vanny Mask. No idea. But they seem to be connected either way.

I've heard the theories of Cassie's dad being the Bonnie bully, and while I still don't fully get the timeline just yet, I do like that idea. Just because I think it would be cool if someone from as close to the start as possible is someone involved in trying to stop the madness, it would also be pretty cool if one of Michael's old friends picked up where his story ended in some way. It's far-fetched but a comforting theory to me.

I do not think the age is too much of a problem for the Bonnie bully (Bonnie Bro if you watch GT Live) to be Cassie's dad. I am not as fully into the lore of the series as some people but, as far as I know, the character could be the kid from the bite, the beta tester, and the technician. I have been wondering for a few days if the bite incident might have driven the whole arch. Jeremy takes part in putting the crying child in the animatronic and the bite happens. It is reasonable that Jeremy would feel bad about that. So, as Jeremy grows up, he decides to focus on making animatronics and similar attractions safer. He trains to be a technician and takes the job beta testing to make sure no one else gets hurt. Unfortunately, he thought it was just lax development and safety standards that caused the problem and did not realize what he was up against until it was too late. The incident with Glitchtrap forced Jeremy to confront that the characters and franchise that he loved his entire life were rotten and he could never make them into the safe and happy thing he wanted. He still felt the nostalgia and fondness for the characters but they needed to be stopped. Unfortunately, he had already introduced his daughter to his love of the characters and there was no good way to explain to his little girl why he felt they could not be trusted.

Another great theory. If this theory is true then it will be a little sad. It would transform one of the few wholesome moments in the series ( Gregory befriending Cassie) into Gregory being gregory.

It's probably a reach, but I really like this idea because if it is Jeremy from HW1, and his 'scar' is the result of him cutting something out (like the implant), it'd also explain why the mask doesn't put the same thing in for us to see Helpy during HW2. Although, the argument could be made that when you get turned into Maskbot, something is done to the mask, but even if that was the case I doubt they'd be able to add that sort of technology to it without the foundation of it existing already.

Very good theory as always! I actually considered whether or not Helpi was Glitchtrap and was using the capabilities of the Mimic to his advantage. I actually don’t think Jeremy and Bonnie Bully are the same due to Bonnie Bully probably being in his 60s or 70s by the time of Security Breach, but what about them being related? Maybe Jeremy is Bonnie Bully’s son?

This interpretation mixed with Rye Toast's interpretation would be a doozy. His leans toward Bonnie Bro being Cassie's dad and his name being Jeremy Fitzgerald. So basically, if we mix them together, Jeremy helped Micheal kill The Crying Child in an accident, was the bite of 87 victim, and chopped his face off in Help Wanted.
