What I find interesting is how William afton is depicted less then a human, evil seriel killer and more like a depraved monster. I think that’s because we see the game in the perspective of a child and see what they see him as: not as a human, but as a monster
@snakemaster2542 ай бұрын
That’s partially because that’s what this yellow rabbit is, it’s not as much William afton as it is the memory of the monster he created/became. With all the flesh and all, the monster is depicted as an actual monster not a man in a suit, it represents how William appeared to the kids he killed, twisted and monstrous version of something they used to love.

Fun Fact: This game was actually meant to be on the SNES. Scott apparently loves the SNES and since Mega Cat Studios mainly makes games for retro consoles like the NES and SNES, when this make being made it was developed in mind to be on a SNES cartridge and to work with original hardware. Unfortunately, this was scrapped so the game would be avalible to a wider audience, but there is a ton of sprites for characters and backgrounds in the final game leftover from this period.

The animation that plays when you're hiding in the Freddy suit is what sold me on the game. Holy hell is that a gorgeous and tense moment. This is the only FNAF I've enjoyed from a gameplay perspective. There's stuff to like in the convoluted lore and it's amusing to watch Let's Players overreact to things, but Into the Pit proves you can do so much more with the universe than the other games do.

To explain how the ball pit portal and Dadtrap work (according to comments pieces together from the play through I watched): The ball pit is filled with Remnant (possibly explained in the movie, haven’t seen it) from all the dead children. Remnant is created when someone dies a particularly gruesome death. All the remnant was shoved Into the Pit causing it to become an artificial world resembling the place and time where everyone died. After visiting the pit the pit decides it doesn’t want Oswald to leave (the whole ghost’s grudges vs living people thing) so the murder ghost comes out to drag him in forever. Because Oswald’s been to the pit he can see through the ghost’s disguise while everyone else believes it’s his dad. Freeing the children is essentially untying the tangled grudges and freeing their spirits that have been imprisoned in the ball pit. There’s also something called Illusion Disks that use sounds to hypnotize people into seeing the animatronics as something else, allowing them to create realistic disguises, but these are introduced later on and poorly explained.

Friendly request: can you maybe do a Villains done right Video about William afton please. He is one of my favorite villains, a giant horror icon and is the man behind one of the most iconic video game franchise of all time( in universe at least).
@snakemaster2542 ай бұрын
I don’t know about that, but a video on afton would certainly be interesting. He’s had ups and downs as a character sometimes coming off as a genuinely terrible and sick individual who never cared about anyone other than himself, and the other times we get that, but with cartoon supervillain tacked on. Afton was probably at his best in the games where we get to see his actions and their consequences and learn about some of what he did along the way but we still don’t get a clear enough picture to know truly who he is as a character in the games other than a sick and selfish individual who never truly cared for those around him unless they obeyed him.
@redpanda6497Ай бұрын
He's interesting. He's both overused and underutilized. Sometimes well written and sometimes badly written. Idk how is that possible. I think his best moments are when he's close to reality.

5:01 How was Gregory annoying again? I know the issue is that they didn't really give him a past and threw us in in media res with him, but otherwise the kid was implied somewhat to be on the streets (though Tales From the Pizzaplex seems to state he has a family) and thus had to learn to rough it out. The fact he's one of the few protagonists who could actually _do something_ to the robots was neat, though could've been executed better... I know you didn't like how he lied to Freddy about the upgrades he took from the others, calling it "detestable" that he wouldn't tell the guy he had to fight his dear friends for it (why stress the guy out?), but Security Breach as a whole was mismanaged going into release. You said he didn't know how to use an "exit" or "accent"? Couldn't hear that part too well...

So I dont know if its necessarily the BEST fnaf game. If you like this type of game i'd say that FNAF World has a similar appeal with a bigger scope. But that's just kind of how I view that. The game has a very small scope it can be completed in like two hours if you actually just listen to the prompts instead of being like "but what if there's a secret somewhere?" there isnt. Or I guess you could also spend some time playing the minigames and such like was said in the video. Either way I do like what these games, and this video, have been teaching me about game design. Linearity is ok, you dont need everything to be open world. Even then I think that an open world game will essentially be linear just with like four or five paths you can take in any order. Just look at BOTW and TOTK.
