I’ve never seen one of these that had the jet on the outside of the fuel pickup tube. Always inside with the gasket facing down. It may take a bit of pushing with a punch of a drill bit, but when it clicks, it’s in there. Lots of the gasket kits only come with the 2 larger gaskets. There’s a guy on eBay who sells the smaller gasket in bulk, and they are better quality than what comes with the kits. I buy them 10 at a time and they go fast with all the Nikki’s around

Nice one,carburetor work is not my thing, but it has been lately. Junk gas and no filters, that's my guess.

Yep gas these days goes bad quick. I suggest using ethanol free fuel if you can find it.

Never use WD-40 on any rubber parts, o-rings, door gaskets, etc. It will swell the rubber and render it useless. Use Windex instead. Also, plain rubbing alcohol works better on rusted nuts and bolts and stuck parts than any penetrating oil.
