Has become my go to top water pattern. Bluegills love em.

My go-to bluegill fly for the past 3 or 4 years. Tied in light green or white it is deadly. And takes largemouth as well!

I've been tying and fishing these a bunch lately and I can a vow that they are indeed a blue gill slayer. They love them.

This pattern is great for bluegills as was stated. It is also a good general purpose bug when you need a floating "whatever" bug for smallies, lg. mouth, trout, and even carp.

Very good looking fly - I will make some of them and try them for sea run brown trout in saltwater here in Denmark! I think it might look good to take a piece of yellow or pale green foam (app. 1 mm x 1 mm x 12 mm) and tie it in across the hook at 3:57 to make eyes and then trim it after the brown foam is secured - just an idea.

thanks for the vid. I found by putting a sparkle chenille in a white or silver flash in the under body the bluegills tore it up. thanks again Curtis Fry

Did you ever come up with a trout version of this fly? I've goofed around with this pattern on the Southfork of the Snake using colors and sizes imitating golden stones and it's been a good bug.

We actually just ended up fishing this one as is for trout... They ate it with no hesitation.
