Detailed instructions for tying a Bully Bluegill Spider.
Hook: Standard wet-fly hook (here, a Lightning Strike NW1), sizes 10 and 12.
Thread: 8/0 or 70 Denier, black.
Weight: .015 lead-free wire.
Body: Ultra Chenille, caddis green.
Legs: Round rubber legs, small, black.
Note: Experiment with different colors for the body and legs.

This is my absolute favorite bluegill (and small bass) fly, they snap this little fly up! I agree on the colors, olive, black, and brown produce best for me but I like to carry a few in yellow as well. I like small or mini centipede legs for mine though, they have better action. I use black centipede legs for all my colors just to add some contrast.

Oh that looks great! I love going after panfish on a fly. Typically i use foam spiders or ants for such occasion, which I don’t fish like others do. This might be another good fly in that arsenal.

I like adding super glue on the tie in point behind the lead and up the shank before I wrap. Bluegill destroy these flys and it’s the best way I’ve found to keep them from unraveling. Great fly and video!

I like to tie bluegill flies on 3x or 4x long streamer hooks, keeping the fly to the back 1/2 or 1/3 of the hook so when an over-eager gill inevitably inhales it. Plenty of hook to grab on to and get the hook free

Very good presentation professionally done. No au ra in this presentation straight to the point. I purchased an assortment of various rubber legs which don’t match to the consistency of your legs .The only thing I didn’t get with the purchase was a plate of rice.I had purchased a pack of thin rubber bands with assorted colors hoping this will suffice. I shall see. Would you refer me to a dealer who sells what I have described . Thank you.

In Argentina there is not bluegill, bue a very similar tilapia, looks a very promising fly for that fish.

One thing I love about bluegill is there everywhere usually I have a pond by my house that was supposed to be a drainage pond but somehow it has carp bass pike bluegill and catfish yet there’s no way they should be able to get in there

I like using sili flutter legs. They have more movement and don't degrade like rubber does.

Just about any color combo can work, but sometimes they (bluegill) really do seem to favor one over the other. Have not yet tried it on trout.
