To anyone that sees: if that center bolt is being difficult, put the backside bolt in about a 1/4 the way and tap it with a hammer from the backside, that'll loosen it up

Sadly, after about 50,000 miles enough brake dust, and gunk has built up around the sides of the pins that they will NOT move. You'll need some kind of wire brush, or a strip of sand paper to help clean the pin's surfaces. You may also need a punch pin that fits inside the center pin bolt hole as it may get so stuck as not even the bolt will be long enough to get it out. Def some penetrating oil to help break that stuff up. None of my pins wanted to come out. The slid pins were so stuck that the tip actually deformed from the impact of the punch pin. Sadly, some nicks were introduced to the blue paint. :(

Hi Thanks for all your information and answering a previous question for me. I now have another question for you. So when I Bought the OEM Brake Pads from the Dealership, they did NOT come with any Shims/ Anit Rattle clips. And when I took off the original brake pads, I didn’t see any Shims so I didn’t think anything of it and installed them like that. I’ve always had this small little Rattling noise from the rear when going over bumps at low speeds, and have not been able to find anything wrong with the Suspension. Finally I drove with the Hand Brake on slightly and the noise goes away. So my question is did your car have the Shims/ Anit Rattle Clips on the original brake pads? Your Mountune Brake Pads did already come with the Shims right? And I can’t seem to find any OEM Shims, do you know when I can purchase them? I can believe they don’t automatically come with the brake pads.

I've seen someone change the RS breaks in 6min my dude. There is a video.on KZbin. You did it the hard way. There is a much easy way 2 do it. Be done changing your breaks in 14mins. Both sides.

Hello, I’m just curious if you could have used that tool used to compress the front positions all at the same time, on the back? Is is because it does both sides at the same time? Or could you only compress one side if you wanted to with that tool. I’m asking cause you said it’s a good investment if you do it with any regularity. Which I plan to but am curious if it only works for the front.

From what I know, the rear pistons are not simply a push piston like the front. They actually twist as they press the brake pad upon use, hence a regular push tool won't work to push it back into place. That's why the adapter has the two protrusions so it can grip the pistion and twist it back in place. Hopefully that answers your question.

@@CesarRamirez-hb1tt You can rent a brake tool kit at any parts store. It will have what you need to retract the parking brake piston.

Is there’s a way to push back the piston without taking off the whole caliper?

Yes. Unnecessary to remove the caliper and risks stripping the threads in the relatively soft alloy caliper. (yes I've done that...). I left the old/street pads in place and used three short flat blade drivers to carefully push them in. Yes it may make take a small chunk out of the pad, but that's worth it. If that worries you remove the pads and use two similar shaped pieces of hard wood. I'd only remove the caliper if the rotor needed changing. And definitely the caliper bolts need to be torqued accurately by turning the wheel to full lock for wrench access.

You should never use the brake cleaner directly on the pads it degrades the friction material, it might even swell up.
