Pediatrician Dr. Meg Meeker offers encouragement to mothers that they can greatly influence and raise godly sons. She believes the feminist movement of the 1970s left men and boys as casualties in the culture, but mothers can be intentional about bolstering their son's confidence.
You can find her book on this topic on our bookstore here: bit.ly/2Flo7EZ
Dr. Meeker addresses the natural conflict and distancing that will occur between a mother and a son as he matures. She admonishes moms not to be overprotective or to find their identity in their children.

What helped me the most with raising my children was the book ‘Raising Warriors: Preparing Your Children For a Godly Life’. It is honestly a game changer

I am one of those very hugging fathers, I love when I come home from work and my son stops what he is doing and runs to give me a hug. The best moment of the day most times!

Wow! I see so much of the "wrong way" of doing things in my own relationship as the son of an over-involved mother. Thank you all for this channel, and for sharing biblical truths in relatable and applicable ways.

Thank you so much, I've watched from Papua New Guinea and I can relate to what Dr Meeker, as I have a 22year old son. I have also learnt alot especially on removing myself from him as I am very protective over him.🙏

I think this is an even better way to handle it than to say that if you want to cry you can go to your room.🙂

My son is really becoming independent. It is such a hard process for me.. he is only 16 and I feel like I am grieving loosing my baby boy. I am very sad about this process. I am trying to not make it about me.. I almost feel depressed…

Yes, the feminist movement is horrible now a days. I wish there was a world where the encouragement is balanced between the masculine gender and the feminine gender.

But, is this an American culture thing? That, a son has to pull away and “hate” his mom to say “I don’t need her”? I feel like I’m our culture is not like that, that families are together and even if your 18 parents are not kicking you out etc.

Possibly. It might also be an Anglosphere thing as well.
