Doku is still learning and struggling with what's expected of him. He's being asked to dribble and drive forward, at the same time he's not expected to lose the ball. He has to learn when to drive forward and when to pass. He also has to work on his end product. He has to watch Mo Salah. You're coming from the left doesn't mean you have to pass with your left foot which is your weaker foot. He's passing to the wrong areas of the box and the ball is not always reaching his colleagues in the box

Grealish has that quality. He tests defence when to go up and when to rotate from own side.

what we need to remember is that being a winger for a pep team is always difficult in the first full season. Sanés first season in PL: 5 goals 3 assists, then 10 goals 15 assists the season after. Sterlings first season with Pep: 7 goals 6 assists, then 18 goals 11 assists. Grealish treble season was amazing. Mahrez exactly the same. I’m so confident that Doku just needs more time with Pep and that he will come really good with time.

What I love about this team is that there are no egos or jealousy. When they recognise who the star player is in that season, moment, any short period of time in the season, they take advantage and service that person to shine. Gundo in the past, kdb always, Erling last season. Stirling, and now Phil. They just trust the star player and give him the ball whenever he wants it. Amazing group of players.

Doku's brain is slower than his feet, struggles to pass or dribble at the right time still young and will improve.

Looks like he's got the effort to learn - defenses have figured him out for now - no surprise vs a youngster. Few players his age can make this team. I expect he'll do great things in the 25/26 season...

Don't forget that defenses study players - and after 10 games, they had enough tape on Doku to neutralize him and push him to his weaknesses. Good players adapt until they have no weaknesses and that takes years. Mahrez was predictable his first season and it wasn't a great year. As he grew his decision making, he became unstoppable. Lets see if Doku can get there.

Our midfield is so intelligent it was great yesterday. Rodri and Stones have a brilliant understanding of space and are so good at receiving and turning with the ball. The main reason we bypassed their first phase and left so much space in midfield. World class

For me Phil foden is the best player in the world at the moment. He is already better than bellingam but people don't see this all because bellingam plays for one of the biggest club in the world (real Madrid ). Foden deserves much more respect than this.He should start every game from England in Euro 2024

John Stones can even get better if he doesn't look confused going forward sometimes. In the opposition box John Stones has to be a bit faster. He's a defender by trade but he has the privilege to go forward, and that must count when he ends up in opposition box

I was also thinking the same thing about Doku, he almost needs a break from starting. Train some more with Guardiola, get his confidence back then explode onto the scene again. People forget that this is a 21 year old in literally his first season in England and City, this is totally expected. Give him time. How many times have we seen attackers explode in their second season at City?

Foden is beyond gundogan already. For half of the time gundo was at city, he was not a key player. Dias came and PG changed the system in a way that suited gundo. PG now putting KDB on the wing to make room for Foden. Never did anything like that for gundo.

I think Stones has to stay in defence I think Kovacic has to play against Liverpool now the issue is does he drop Doku or in my opinion I would be looking at Dias I think he's been very poor and got away with a lot of mistakes recently

I have to say I agreed with all the points but the last one... Honestly who gives a fuck where United are? we are currently world champions... United have two more points than the third best team in London. The level of City's success since 2012 is such that they are now an irrelevance...

I would be curious on your opinion about Kova/Gvardiol - though they didnt play yesterday. i think the idea was to take these 2 blokes to fill the gap caused by Gundogan. In my opinion Gvardiol is far behind expectations. when he is on the attacking half, he doesnt have the pace to get back. his shooting is horrible (Doku is similar) and he doesnt have the pace (remember the "old Messi" on WC), he is good at positional play. overall to me the guy is a disappointment so far. hope gets better by time. Kovacic is less so but still. i feel like this is our biggest challenge as Gundo scored so many important goals last season and was another Foden/Kev level player that city lacks. Jack is also a great miss but hope he gets back as city needs him in CL/EPL in the upcoming games.

Personaly i think pep is wrong to Play gvardiol in the lb role, Yeah he can do a job there but ake is better at it, still think city need a proper lb, gvardiol should Play cb. Would love to see how ake, gvardiol, Stones and akanji deffence would Play out, all of them Are good at carying the ball.

I think people are right to be harsh towards Doku he's honestly been so poor no goal involvements in multiple games and constantly giving the ball away and it looks like defenders have worked him out very quickly don't back away from him and he will make a mistake

John isn't doing anything special. He's a defender who's being asked to roam, but sometimes he looks confused and nonchalant

It's more than just a "dip" with Doku. He had 1 G, 4 A in one game and has had 1 G, 1 A in 18 other games. That's just abysmal. I am sure he'll improve--the bar is very low--but he still lacks the basic fundamentals that could signal a quantum leap. He's very predictable, cannot really pass, cannot cross, and can't shoot. I don't care that he struggles beating his man. He does that enough where he could make a difference if he had other skills. He'll get by his man and will just attempt a cross instead of actually trying to pick out a teammate.
