Selling Alvarez and buying a new player to replace him is just silly. Alvarez needs more game time and getting played to his strengths, he will deliver for sure. A new player is always a risk, just look at K Phillips or Matheus Nunez.

Please no. honestly we should just start him as the right winger, he used to play there for River- for us he’s played on the left and not done well, try him on the right. Move Foden into the middle as an 8, and only seek out a 6 depth option. (Which honestly we don’t even need one atm, keep Phillips+we have Kova, allow our options Joao Neves and Wharton to develop their game) I’d rather keep Julian Alvarez instead of getting Bruno G. or Dani Olmo at the moment. Unless we lose Kova, Nunes, AND Bernardo- then I see City going in for an Olmo or Musiela or Xavi Simons or Camivinga.
@adrianveidt69263 сағат бұрын
Alvarez was the most used player by number of games and 9th in minutes total. He played 36 Premier League games, only 5 off the bench. I think it's as good as it gets for a player like him at a top 3 team in the world.

I think number 10 like olmo or eze would be a great Alvarez replacement as we need play who who isn’t just a striker so olmo/eze/foden can play in midfield and as a false 9. I also think Kovacic can be our rodri backup and there’s just no room to add another midfielder to our team without selling. I also think our main problem is a stones backup, akanji can’t play in midfield and gvardiol/walker aren’t wingbacks. So with the sale of Gomez I think bringing an actual left wingback in would be great, maybe £45m for an ait nouri type?
@beefiey3 сағат бұрын
if Pep and City decide to use Kova at the 6/8 we’re searching for, then I don’t see City going for another 8/10, since we have Foden. I wanted a versatile guy to take over that spot like an Olmo, Xavi Simons or Musiela. But it should be Julian Alvarez who takes it. I think City going into the market depends if Bernardo, Nunes, and Kalvin Phillips ALL move on. (Kova could always leave as well, but personally I like to see Camivinga come in if that happens.) also Caqueret could be a good option. Also the CB thing, City have been linked previously with Scalvini for several years, hes someone that would be perfect for the role. But atm he is injured so I don’t think we go in, but that could be the reason Jarrad Branthwaite or Bastoni is on our shortlist as well. For leftback there’s “ok” options out there- (I like: Melvin Bard, Aaron Hickey, Davies, Theo Hernandez, Nuno Mendes) but I don’t think City would go in since they’re happy with Gvardiol/Ake. It would take Ake leaving to really go into the market I think.

I'd rather keep Álvarez than Haaland. Now that's an unpopular opinion.
@beefiey3 сағат бұрын
why not both? I mean Alvarez is extremely versatile, he should be our starting RW. He charges at defenders, can keep the ball, sure he’s not fast or tricky but he’s got a wicked sense for a pass, and presses to no end. We got to see that when he was replacing kdb early last season.
@faghriedaniels5 сағат бұрын
Alvarez is a good striker. The problem is that he isnt nearly as good as Haaland. He is a 1 in 3 striker while Haaland is a 1 in 1. Olmo is a better suited player for what Pep was trying to achieve with Alvarez

hopefully sergio gomez can kick on en La Liga. I would like to see City Callum Doyle to be that LB depth option. And its true about what you said about our academy, if you look around the premier league our past academy graduates are making significant strides in each of their careers. Most of them are leaving before they're turning 21, and doing well even at that age. Not only that but our coaches and back room staff as well are moving on... its indicative as well that recently the EDS squad has been linked with so much u-18 talent in the last couple of weeks. People come here to learn and make a name for themselves.

My opinion is we don't give kids enough opportunities. You say Doyle isn't Gundo, Rodri etc but he didn't have to be, they wasn't at Doyle age same with other positions. They need to be around the squad learn, get game time and by the tine they're 22-23 they could be ready to start regularly
