Sounded like a spindryer full of nuts and bolts. Loved it. Then we had the viscount with 4 props making double the noise. Happy days at Birmingham ( UK ) airport.

I am in love with this plane because it was the first plane I travelled with when I was a very little kid. I am still fascinated with it. My dream is to own one Fokker 27 even if it can not fly. This is the best video I saw for it. I really enjoyed it and I will keep seeing it hundreds of times. Thank you so mucj

Love, love, love this beautiful bird. I grew up near Monterey, California and watched many Air West (later Hughes Airwest) Fairchild F-27s operating circa 1968-72.

Meanwhile, 11,600 hours of flying the F-27's later for me (Over 17 years) - Built like a Brick toilet Block. We used to say "Did you fly the F-27?" & the answer was "WHAT!!!" (They could send you deaf) :o)

On the F-27 and other aircraft fitted with the RR Darts, the sound of the props is more pronounced than on the Vickers Viscount. On the Viscount, the sound of the props is virtually inaudible, making it sound much more like a regular jet aircraft or "Turbofan". . On all turboprop aircraft that I've flown on, the prop sound, Chafe Cutter or "Box Fan" sound in taxiing, and low pitched drone inflight, was well pronounced.

Is that the former TAA aircraft VH-TQN? as I assume it is. If so, used to see her as kid in Cairns all the time, and once flew on her from Cairns to Townsville and Mackay, there to connect with a DC-9 jet to Sydney :)
