The Taliban now controls more territory than it ever has. After 16 years of constant combat and roughly $714 billion spent by Americans to purge the terror group, the Taliban looks its strongest, establishing footholds in nearly every single province. Also all the fighting and intel gathering is done by special forces and special operations like ranger battalions, JSOC Teams, Recon Marines etc... As an early iraq/09-10 Afghanistan veteran i take offense to your poorly thought out comment. A civilian may live to be 100. A Soldier might live to be maybe 18 or even 30 yrs old and will have lived 100 times the life the 100 yr old will have lived. Respect is not given but earned and weather they were by my side in iraq in 2006 or my afghan deployment in 09 they have earned much more than any civilian has and that extends to the woman that awaited us faithfully at home.

It's sad when people say things like, "these people will probably never see combat". Sure, so that means that what they're doing is any less honorable? That we shouldn't still pray for them? That we shouldn't still worry for their families? Whether they ever see combat or not, we should remember their sacrifice. They voluntarily decided to enlist, knowing that theres a probability that they will be deployed and away from the families for months. They still sacrificed and I will never forget that. God bless all who serve/served. It's men and women like these that I thank each and everyday, because if it wasn't for them and the people who served before them, I'm not sure where myself or anyone else would be today.

There were so many of them and it had a lasting impression on me my entire life up into adult hood. 11 years after growing up watching and seeing footage of the Iraq war most of my child hood I ended up deploying there. Its pretty crazy to think we are still sending our sons and daughters to these places when the Afghanistan war began in 2001 and the Iraq war in 2003.

It's a shame! Ha ha! For 16 years in Afghanistan, the US has not achieved any positive results! 60% of the territory of the Taliban, and in fact they only AK-47! On the coalition's foundation, the impact drone and billions of taxpayer money are spent with zero result! The parasites!

I wasn't in the Marines for that long but even so, I had half the mindset of a trained Marine. My argument may waft at the flames now, but hey, I gotta say it... We're bored. We gotta kill something and show our American muscles to the other large countries somehow. Sure, let's go take their resources and die in the process. Its how the world works. It can't be changed. Be what the world is gonna be, or that all peace mindset we have will just spark more bloodshed. Look at BLM. Antifa. They want peace for their own kind, which ends to violence. You either get a fight, or a bigger fight. That's the world now, sorry. Gotta do what we gotta do as military personnel, Americans, and human citizens. To my boys and gals overseas; kill 'em all. Let their God sort 'em out. Take out the oppressors of Afghanistan, avenge our fallen brothers and sisters, and get them resources. OORAH! Get some, soldiers!

Pac , there nukes need to be secured quickly in the event of anything it leaves that option open

This is the most gut hitting stuff on both sides of the service member. Imagine for the single soldiers who said goodbye to their families a month or 2 prior or guys who couldnt say goodbye to their family.
