Enjoy my friends 😀🙂🙏 It's not a kickboxing/muay thai/mma workout but I wanted to throw something different at you today. Test out your leg conditioning. This will be harder than you think.

I have 22 years striking and can't hold my leg that high. How in the fk roundhouse held at that height how in the fk and btw I actually did all these unlike everyone else here blk belt or not this hurts. No one is saying gee thanks Gabe that's amazing after doing these, they would say my god that's hard. This is all my fault for not teaching myself the leg strengthening drills i had to learn later. Ill do it everyday. I can kick high but I can't hold it at that height. Fk you Gabe. Lol. Bastard. My god thsts insane you can hold thst high. I loved vandamme too and took it pretty seriously chair splits and all but this is ridiculous, your leg stregth is off the hook. I'm in so much pain and I already do half these work outs. Then you have the oddasity to call it intermediate lol. Yeah no! no blk belt is even gonna come close to doing what you just did strength wise. Honestly thank you for the video its good to know how much work I needed. I'm like hip to chest level at best with holding. Please edit and explain just how hard this is and just how hard you worked to achieve this. This is very, very hard. Takes years to get that good. Glory champion here doing this, not some 2 bit blk belt. Pls let people know next time so we don't feel so bad, and I do half these like I said and this was still hard. God damn youre good.
@educatedcanadian740811 ай бұрын
Yeah I had to watch again. Gabe says: "And an advanced version would be without the chair", yeah, not holding that high! I've mentioned I hate you right. Fkin foot is held higher than your bookshelf ffs. Move aside jcvd Gabe is taking over

This is a huge help. No one necessarily NEEDS to kick like this but I want to be able to show my students what’s possible if they stick with something and work at it. Thank you, Mr. Varga!
@GabrielVargaOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's not about throwing kicks like that in sparring but simply increasing your strength, flexibility, control, etc. I used to do this 6 times per week and it made my kicks very good.

This is a sick workout. Thanks for the content as always! I had an old VHS tape showing Van Damme training at his old gym in Brussels, where he was doing a similar workout with ankle weights during an interview, and holding it for a 10 count. I wonder how much power his kicks generated at the time.

For real life kickboxing I would say Jean was and would of been dangerous if he decided to fight for Glory, but he is no Gabriel Varga. How many people did Jean not get into martial arts? A heavy weight champ for that I would say he was and still is with his oldies. I remember being so stoked about Jean's martial arts as a kid... until I seen Rick Roufus go Jackie Chang in the real life ring, Don the Dragon, Sugarfoot Cunningham etc... the list goes on.. Again thank you for the videos.

I am never be able to lift my leg as you do in 7:14 . So, can you please advise how to achieve this?
@GabrielVargaOfficial3 жыл бұрын
1. Work your stretch. Particularly your split. 2. Lift your leg as high as possible (even if it's thigh level) and hold until you fatigue and must drop. 3-4x per week. 3. Make sure you pivot your standing leg to help open up your hips. Try using the video below to assist you as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH2YdHyDf7-GnbM

This is what happens when you don't educate yourself in the history of martial arts. Flicky kicks are not just for sport. They are also designed for real street situations. The logic behind the flicky Kick is so that the opponent is unable to grab your leg. It doesn't matter how much power you have if your opponent is able to grab your leg in a real street fight. You are protected by competition rules. There many things a person can do outside of competition rules if they manage to get hold of your leg. For one ur leaving your testicles exposed for a vicious counter.
