Contemporary British painter and writer Lynette Yiadom-Boakye lives and works in London, where she was born in 1977. Known for her figurative style, she often depicts people in settings that appear timeless and anonymous. She finds inspiration in a wide range of sources, such as magazines, photographs, found images, and life studies.
Her work has been widely exhibited, in museums such as Tate Britain, the Yale Center for British Art, and Moderna Museet, Stockholm. In 2013 she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize. She will be talking to Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine Gallery, about her life and art.
