If no one has had a chance to explain, the bread you were eating in the large container is called pan dulce or sweet bread. The texture is like that because they’re supposed to be eaten with coffee. The ones that had the markings on top are called conchas, meaning shells. I think they’re supposed to look like turtle shells. The cajeta is pronounced with a hard h sound as opposed to the j, similar to how you would pronounce the x when you say Mexico in Spanish. It’s basically a caramel made with goat’s milk. Hope this helps!!

It's interesting to me that every country has different fllavour preference, like Taz said in Mexico they love chilli and lime, in Poland where I grew up most popular sweet flavour would be strawberry and cherry, so I thought that is default for the whole world, but when I went to Japan I noticed that Japanese love banana and melon flavour, and also grape flavour the most, and they also consider red bean paste to be sweet and suitable for desserts (which I don't agree with haha).

Watching Taz’s videos on her vacation to Mexico made me realized that USA really like to portray Mexico as a rundown, third world country with drugs and sex trafficking issues when it clearly isn’t - seeing is believing, don’t believe everything you read and hear from the media nowadays. Definitely would put Mexico on my visiting bucket list now.

The piece you chose as tuna is not, it is called "xoconostle" (pronounced "shoconostle) it has a very acidic flavor and is used to make some dishes such as beef stew with vegetables. The tuna is a very sweet and refreshing fruit that is eaten by biting it or blended in water, adding a little sugar, then if you want you can use a strainer to remove the seeds that are hard, they can be eaten but it is not customary to consume them in water. La pieza que elegiste como tuna, no lo es, tiene por nombre "xoconostle" (se pronuncia shoconostle) tiene un sabor muy acido y se usa para elaborar algunos platillos como cosido de carne de res con vegetales. La tuna es un fruto muy dulce y refrescante que se consume mordiendo o se licua en agua, agregando un poco de azúcar, después si se desea se puede usar un colador para eliminar las semillas que son duras, se pueden comer pero en agua no se acostumbra consumirlas.

Soriana is one of the most expensive stores in Mexico. They offer some American and Canadian products that are difficult to find (relish, dill pickles, sesame oil, asian products) , but you pay dearly to buy them. and they aren't always available. I rarely go to Soriana any more. They're trying too hard to become an upscale grocery store with far too many price increases.

This comment will probably get lost in the sea of comments, but I’d like to give you my recipe for tostadas de atún, as a Mexican myself. 🤓 You can add mayonnaise to the tuna, also a little tiny bit of mustard. You can add a variety of canned vegetables, such as peas, corn, carrots and mushrooms. You can also add canned jalapeños, as well as some of the jalapeño vinegar that comes in the can, for a bit of spiciness. You can eat it with tostadas, totopos, saladitas or even chips. And there you go, you got a girl dinner right there. 😂
